Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

I was told Google would count the request made for applications & ideas, here.

We need everyone (who cares) to click suggest on the Windows Mobile suggestion button for a Google Voice App.

So far Blackberry, Android passed this, iPhone passes it & kicked it out of the App Store.
Stop Windows Mobile from getting scrooged out of getting this godsend app:

Follow the link here:
http://www.google.com/support/voice/...suggestions.cs

Its pretty much like voting.

There are other selections and suggestions you can make here as well, so take advantage. Just keep in mind Google will skip windows mobile if no one is behind it.
IMHO a lot of big names seems to be brushing windows mobile to the side, too many for comfort.

I would love an app that has the option to replace the default winmo dialer just like the android version of their app.

I don't understand how winmo didn't get any love with android and blackberry.

Yeah its sickening and Im starting to see this with a lot of apps. Seeing larger companies and developers brushing aside Windows Mobile :(

Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

this is what i just suggested to google for googlevoice and mms
"this might sound crazy lol but what about mms with googlevoice i know what you thinking right why or how. well since most cell carrier how some type of email with there pic mail why not when somebody send you a pic via googlevoice it routes to the gmail email addy kinda like the voicemail does get my idea? is can that be done? just an idea mms coming from other carriers to googlevoice via gmail"

so not only suggest winmo get an app but throw in the suggestion box about mms via sent to email!!! if we getting free voice and sms and get mms that would be crazy eh! :evil3:

I work in the telecom field and I think the reason why a lot of developers are brushing us to the side is the fact that a lot of them see windows mobile as being on its way out the door. With the iphone being the hottest phone out, blackberry being the standard business phone and android gaining steam...well... it is what it is.

Yeah, I could see if Windows Mobile was like the Palm OS of old but thats not the case and the platform is still has many players. (HTC, HP, Palm, Samsung, Pharos, etc.)

I agree, I dont think wm is going anywhere especially with htc sense and the dev of the zune. I think developers are just waiting for wm7 so they wont have to change anything.

SUGGESTED :)

Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

same here i like the mms idea i also like how youmail gives you the option to attack your voicemail as a mp3 i would like that also
but an offical winmo app would be nice
i'm using this as a home number now for my wife and i and the ablity to send emails to multiple gmail accounts would be a plus
but an app would be better cuz we could just pull it up that way

Yea that would be nice! But I'll settle for mms just being able to route to my gmail account which is on my phone already so its pretty much free mms.

Yeah, I suggested this a couple of weeks back. I have my ms cut off and communicate with my friends via email to their mms accounts.

If you keep voting does it count more than once or do you think its tracked by ip address or something? Just thought I might set that as my home page and vote every time I go onto the internet lol

If you look on XDA youll find a program called OneDialer. Theres no square screen love yet but the app works under WinMo quite well. A little slow opening your contacts, but if you dial directly its awesome.

Genjinaro 07-22-2009 07:59 AM

Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

Yeah, I've been using OneDialer since I 1st got my invite. It being the only 3rd party Dialer to have SMS, sold me on it.

The only problem with that quote is that GV is only for the US at the moment. I am a big fan and have been a loyal user since WM2003SE, but GV seems to be Google's springboard into Android phones due to easier integration with native or 3rd party apps.

Either way, I voted for a WM version.

True but still I mean winmo is pretty big stateside as well so for google to skip making an app fr winmo just because it wants to focus on android would be Krayz

This statement is not true. In 2008, there were more WinMo hansets sold than Iphones. Symbian came in on top with BB under them, this is worlwide, not just in the U.S., which actually makes up a small percentage of smartphones sold. Now with nothing truly new being introduced this year with WinMo, its sales will slump compared with 2008. With the introduction of 3GS (which does add features and a new look and Apple's marketing schemes) sales will rise for Apple with a truly new handset (I personally still think it sucks). Also with HTC'c introduction of Her for the Android platform, sales will rise substantially as this is truly something new and different for Android with more memory, better hardware, sexier hardware, and a very marketable ui called Sense. What is the "hottest" is not necessarily true from the first half of a year to the next halk, and definitely untrue when comes the next year. Now when winmo7 comes, MS better market that OS themselves, and do a good job of it, and not fail a large group of people's expectations beacause of that marketing, like the Iphone has done. I have read many forums on other sites about people dropping the Iphone and going to something else because it did not meet expectations. And to note, I used an Iphone while I was was waiting for my free TP from Sprint when I dropped my Mogul, and during that time I got online so I could find out how to 'jailbreak" that thing, and my friend still left his Iphone, sold it on ebay, saw my TP and he uses the TP for business and this little flip for personal. The Iphone is not all that it is cracked up to be, its a bunch of hype that is well marketed, which by the way is something MS could learn from Apple.
This was meant to be just the first few scentences, then turned out to be more, got a little off topic.

Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

It's a tough world for WM developers. They have to rewrite their applications for the new semi-finger-friendly WM6.5 UI, knowing that they'll have to rewrite them again soon since "finger friendly, for real, seriously now" WM7 is just around the corner.

And then there are the handicapped children in the basement...the non-touchscreen WM phones, somehow still oozing from the womb even in this age of the $199 iphone. What are you to do about them? Two versions of the same program? One ugly hack that is functional for both but desirable for neither? Not to mention the infinite permutations of processor speed, available memory, screen size/resolution, and miscellaneous features such as the accelerometer and compass.

WM development will continue to lag until there is a "final solution" to the problem of hardware diversity.

Genjinaro 07-27-2009 01:34 PM

Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

True, they need to narrow-down power and resolutions in Windows Mobile 7, QVGA (like Palm Treo) & WVGA (Touch Diamond2/Pro2) . All should have touch screen support, graphics & all the WVGA devices should have accelerometers and higher RAM.

Of course we know it'll never happen this way sadly... :/

Im simply telling you what I hear from the INSIDE. For most developers going forward WinMo is a dinosaur, Iphone is whats hot, BB is the standard business phone and Android is the future. Im not agreeing or disagreeing with it.

Actually the requirements on sys soecs for wm7 are pretty decent. I can't remember them exactly but it looked like a step in the right direction for standardizing and making it easier for developers.
