Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

Just got Pick3 for free yesterday through account services.

I asked the first CSR if I could get it and they transfered me to acct serivces. AS asked me if I was possibly wanting to leave Sprint (in a tone that just begged me to say yes) so I told them I was considering switching to another carrier because they had the TP2 already but was convinced to stay with Sprint since the TP2 was due to come out and she offered the Pick3 to add to my plan.

Sort of half truths but worked just the same.

sorry - that is just not true.
magicall handles sms just fine- routes it through gv no problem.
i will be reealseing my rule set for that shortly - i have to seperate alot of number that are grouped so the rules will be generic.
on the other hand, i suggested....

Are you serious??? I have Magicall, but Ive just been using it for phone calls through GV. I had no idea it could do it with text messages too! Is it easy to set up? I was only able to set up the phone calls themselves thanks to awesome peeps who put together a walkthrough. Can anyone walk me through how to set up the texting from your GV number??? thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See MordyT's thread in his signature.
He is working on the sms rule.
READ post #1 in his thread regarding downloading the new set of rules.
It will erase all of your previous info including rules, logs, etc.
I learned the hard way :)
But no biggie as long as you are aware
of that.
You can just enter the rule by itself in addition to your existing rules.
MordyT should soon have it available.

EDIT:
As a side bar, if someone just purchased Magicall, or does not have many Rules or Log History, or just can't figure out how to make Rules, downloading Mordy's new set of Rules is an Excellent way to go.
They are well thought out, and MordyT put alot of time and effort into his work, so you wouldn't have to :)

Thanks Biker, so if I understand correctly, I shouldnt download the rules file he has as of right now, it does not have the sms rule in it yet? I should wait till he is done? I read his thread but I didnt see any mention of the sms rule, unless I missed it somehow...

Even when he develops the new sms rule and adds it to his set of rules, you may still not want to download the new set because it will OVERWRITE your existing set of rules and erase any logs you have. You may not llike that :(
If you don't mind the overwrite and deletions, then you're ok.
If you don't want to overwrite YOUR info, I would suggest to make a separate sms rule and just add it to your existing set of rules.
MordyT is still working on the format.
When he is done, we can ask him to give up just that one rule which we can add ourselves.
I posted a question over there and will edit it regarding the sms rule format.

Well I can safely say I'm no longer bummed about Google not offering an official app.

You guys should check out http://www.OneDialer.com they've finally made the grade. This is the best Google Voice solution for windows mobile. SMS & Visual Voice Mail have been added, Its also waaay faster than before.

Glad to see a GV client bring all of the features to WinMo. :D

I'll try it out, but I would still prefer an official app from Google at some point.

I tried it worked for me on ennryrom with manila 2.5 but it broke the ringtones so I had to get rid of it.

Broken ringtones are probably an issue with Manila 2.5 and not OneDialer.

I think so. What you have to do is change ringtones in Manila I think.

OneDialer is sluggish and only works half the time for me (MightyROM 11-16). Doesn't ever let me play my voicemail either. I would also like some kind of integration into the Windows Mobile voicemail architecture as well (ie shows google voicemail count and notifications)...

Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

I suggested it as well as I am a heavy Google voice user. Right now I use it for the voice mail features instead of the "Google number". I personally find it super easy to just go to the Google Voice mobile site.

Visual Google Voice mail for Mobile

Obviously you must have a G-Voice account and then all one has to do is go to "google.com/voice/m" from their mobile phone and it will let you read and listen to you voice mails. I have a Diamond with OMJ's latest 6.5.3 rom and max manila ultimate and I just add "google.com/voice/m" as one fo my homescreen links...then set my google voice settings to send me an SMS without transcripts to my phone for notification.

Granted this service really is geared towards people with unlimited text messaging and data plans (which should be most of us here at PPCgeeks). Setting up google voice this way is super smooth, I just get a Text that says "you have a new voicemail". And then go to the mobile site to read it or listen to it.

An even more efficient way would be to set up an e-mail account dedicated to your voicemail so as to not get an SMS every time, but have a dedicated voicemail inbox (ie - JonQsvoicemail@gmail.com) and link that e-mail account with your phone (same thing as doing the SMS thing only keeps things more organized by not cluttering your SMS inbox). I don't do this only because I have my e-mail set to autmatically check once every hour, so I like having SMS notifications which is instant.

Now what I really want to see is Google Voice being integrated into GOOGLE WAVE. For all of you Wave and Voice users out there...how sick would that be?

Re: Suggest for Windows Mobile: Official Google Voice App

It'd be nice if all 3rd party app Google Voice developers, collaborated together to offer a soild & speedy solution. From the looks of whats available, it doesn't look impossible but I'm sure there will be a debate of how the profit is split if it were to ever go into play.

Even though I'm on Android with Google Voice now, I continue to support this coming to Windows Mobile officially. 3rd party devs have shown its not impossible so Google cannot make that excuse.
