Re: Starting remote downloads through PPC
something a bit more straightforward. I realize you could use VNC but navigating a large desktop on a small PPC screen is a bit hard. I was imagining something where I can paste in a URL, hit submit and have that be sent and downloaded by some sort of download manager sitting at home

Re: Starting remote downloads through PPC
I personally use remote desktop from my phone and I don't mind it but if you use uTorrent at home, it has a decent web UI that you can access from anywhere and queue up your downloads. Here is a link to the uTorrent website with more information. It's really easy to setup and use and it is already built in:
www.utorrent.com/documentation/webui/ Once it is setup up you can save a favorite in your phones browser and just launch it from there, there is no app install necessary! Hope this helps! |

Re: Starting remote downloads through PPC
I use a free web-based service called logmein.com for remote access to my household pc. It's very useful. I do a lot of music downloading on L*mewire, so I remote access my home pc through PIE using their service and email the songs to my phone. It starts off with the full service that includes direct streaming and downloading of the files from you pc to your ppc. If you dont wanna pay, you have to go my route with the emailing of files to yourself. It's worth the money in my opinion, but I'm cheap as hell. Hope this helps.
