Re: Google Voice Sending Invites Today
I got my invite Friday. I had trouble verifying my phone # until I switched to a pc running Google Chrome.
I haven't played w/ all the features yet, but one of them that sounds interesting is the option to personalize greetings by caller. I'm gonna have a lot of fun w/ that one. ![]() Quote:
I took the area code and prefix, and started looking for easy #'s to remember. For example: If you #'s are (213) 970-???? You could search for 1234 or 2020 or spell something out. A guy named Mike could search for (213) 970-MIKE(6453)

Re: Google Voice Sending Invites Today
What have you guys done, just given your GV number to everyone you know now? I hate having this awesome tool and not being able to use it

I would do that. What I would do is give ur GV # to new ppl from now on and give ur GV # to ppl who maybe just maybe in the future you might need to block be like here is my new # I changed my old one. And give out your real number to important ppl. That's what imma do. I don't see the need to give everyone who has your real number your GV # but anybody from here on out I would just give my GV # too

Re: Google Voice Sending Invites Today
yup, I got 555-matt
![]() and i'm getting cards made up with that #, cuz I really didn't want to print my cell # on cards that would get floated around. I've been specifically waiting for this #. now I have txt and email to remind me to call someone back, otherwise I always forgot. but like I told my mom, important ppl will still use my real #, at least until I'm sure the service is stable.

Re: Google Voice Sending Invites Today
Does anyone know if they have 319 area codes yet? When I signed up for it originally 2 years ago they didn't.

Googlevoice just twit on twitter "just launched the ability to change your google voice number. Your old number stays active for 90 days. Just got to settings > phone"
So now it looks like you can change your google voice number! Com'n google send me my freaking invite ![]() *Added from boygeniusreports* Well it’s not incoming number portability but it’s better than nothing… While the Google Voice team continues to battle through a massive back log of customers itching for their invites, a nifty new feature popped up today for current Google Voice users. Love the service but hate your number? Well now you can change it on the Phones tab under Settings . There is a one-time fee of $10 to change your number but it’s a small price to pay. If you need help picking a new Google Voice number, there’s even a great little number picker tool that lets you type out words and try to snag their corresponding phone numbers. The best part — your old number stays active for 90 days so you don’t have to go crazy hitting all your contacts with your new contact info in a rush. Sweet!
