Re: Hijack any PC with your Phone

I'm just wondering, can't you just put an operating system on a usb memory stick? Basically your turning your phone into a usb memory stick correct?

I'm curious about this too. My data on my SD card is too valuable to replace it with the capability of booting a PC in Linux.

On an unrelated note, the new feature/capability sounds definitely cool but wouldn't it just be easier to load up bootable Linux on one of those miniature USB sticks that you can just keep in your wallet?

yeah i hear what you are saying. i used to work for a networking and computer repair company. and i always had to have a thumb drive with software on it that we used. or carry a pack of CDs around every where i went so i could fix a computer.

well i always lost my thumb drive or it got stolen who knows. heck i could be like the other dorks and wear it round my neck but thats not me. so with this i can just hook up my phone load up hiren and get to work. its awesome.

Yes, you can have .cabs, installed programs, and other files on the SD card. Your phone will see all of the files. Programs that your phone runs off the SD card will still work fine... ect. Following the guide sets up the card as a FAT32 file system. That's a standard Windows filesystem that your phone, Windows, most versions of Linux, recent versions of DOS and a bunch of other OS's and devices can read.

****NOTE****************************************** ******
Following the guide on the first post WILL ERASE your SD card. So backup your data first. Then after you have finished the guide, copy it all back to the SD card. If you had programs installed from your phone on the SD card, they will still work after you restore the data to the SD.

Right, a USB memory stick can typically do the exact same thing .... BUT (at least for me) ...The idea is to lug less stuff around.

I don't want to have to carry a phone, a camera, a GPS, a flashlight, an aircard, a MP3 Player, AND a USB stick.

Just a phone that can handle all of the above will do.... thanks agian to everyone here who has helped us reach that.

The USBtoPC driver was created by No2Chem. I was first available as part of a ROM and then later made into an OEM that is part of the PPCkitchen. You can cook a Vogue ROM in the kitchen and include the OEM on a Vogue (tested). starbase64 at XDA worked on a .cab to install it but it was for a HTC Diamond. Try it out if your brave enough. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...76&postcount=2

Re: Hijack any PC with your Phone

This has been done before re: flash drives ( the bootable SD card basically is the same thing.

Here is a great read on how to do it very easily.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...cket,1113.html

Also thier is a product which works great called mojopac. It virtually allows you to plu in you usb storage device into a pc and boot up to your desktop with all your windows apps on someone elses PC.

Great stuff.
