When I setup my GC account a few years back you'd tell them what area/area code you were in and they'd show you available numbers that you could choose from. I believe it still works the same way once you're "invited". Currently you can not change your number with them once you have it set up.

Re: Google Voice includes SMS! (The old GrandCentral)

I just wish you could easily make calls through google voice using the dial pad. Right now, you have to call your google voice number, press 2, dial the phone number, then hit #.

Not exactly an easy way to do it. If I'm going to use my google voice number as primary, I want my caller ID to show up as that as well.

iDialer says they're going to support it, but I'm not a fan of that dialer. I'd rather use a real dial pad that's integrated with your contacts.

Re: Google Voice includes SMS! (The old GrandCentral)

I agree it's not the easiest when you want your GC number to show on outgoing caller ID. I've used a shortcut to the mobile web version of GC and dialed contacts from there. Just choose the contact and it will ring your phone then place the call. Still not the greatest, but it worked.

Caller ID when making an outbound call via the above method does show google voice as your caller ID as far as I can tell.

How are you doing it that it's not showing your google voice number as the caller ID?

Still curious about the answer to this.

Also, has anyone else been upgraded yet? If so, when did the upgrade hit for you?

Still waiting on the upgrade. The ability to receive SMS sounds pretty cool.
