Re: Google Voice includes SMS! (The old GrandCentral)

The wait for this upgrade is almost as bad as when they were rolling out IMAP.

Hopefully, more people are going to get this soon.

Re: Google Voice includes SMS! (The old GrandCentral)

I've been using the upgrade for a few days including the new mobile site and have been impressed. SMS has been flawless and I like the threaded message format. I'd recommend that you backup / export your contacts as the upgrade requires a manual import via .csv. The import to Google Voice does not include group settings (at least not for me) which is a pain but not that big a deal as I found that you can go through the list and select multiple contacts to assign to a group all at once. I like the mobile sites Quick Call and SMS feature but it's missing the ability to delete both Voicemail and SMS messages from the inbox. On a phone screen a few SMS threads add up to some major scrolling. I also use Google Sync for contacts and calendar ... still sorting out the group issue but over all great apps from Google.

I really like Google's use of Gizmo as a SIP phone ... this option has provide many creative way to use VoIP call through local calling numbers.

I logged in today and got noticed that I could upgrade. Haven't used anything yet though.

Re: Google Voice includes SMS! (The old GrandCentral)

Just an update to let everyone know that there's a Google Voice app being developed which allows you to automatically dial from your GV number.

Thanks,
Priest

Nice, I wonder if Google will be making an official app.

Re: Google Voice includes SMS! (The old GrandCentral)

sweet! I just checked and it let me get on the list (again) didn't let me a few days ago.
I also missed the boat (I thought it was like a casino boat and didn't actually leave dock...lol )

when they do let new users in, if anyone can't get a local # an option(~$50) would be magicjack. I finally decided to try it a while back since it was the only "voip" besides vonage that I could get an iowa #.
