Updated WiFimonster wifi discovery tool v1.0.22. (now connects to protected networks)

Greeting. Found this nice app over at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488566 It's a wifi scanner app in the early stages of development. I gotta say though, it works great as it is now. Thought i'd share my find with you all, and hopefully you'll find it as useful as i have. The dev is M0n5ter, and he's really been putting out quality updates on this. Enjoy,
dschoenike (oh yeah, cab files are inside the zip folder)
From xda-

Hi guys!
Since all of you here are quite experienced, I'd like you to check out and comment my in-progress work.
I'm writing yet another WiFi discovery tool (like Hitchhiker or WiFi companion).

Today I'm on a very early stage:
  • Many things just not working (now it is )
  • No ability to autoconnect/enter the key
What i've got:
  • It shows current WiFi status
  • It can turn WiFi on and off
  • It is finger friendly
  • It supports VGA and it looks nice after all
Please give me your feedback (including concerns regarding English grammar used, since I'm Russian) Thanks!
Update [Mar 26, 2009] v1.0.0.8
  • Now connects to protected networks. Warning! This version will clear your preferred networks list! Don't forget to backup
  • Key entry form added
  • Disables WZC
  • Ability to disconnect network
Update [Apr 03, 2009] v1.0.22.12
  • Connects to hidden networks (not broadcasting their SSIDs)
  • Hex keys are now working
  • Build numbering changed to be more common (Major.Minor.Build.Revision)
UPDATE [MAR20 2009] vEdit: Here is the changelog for v1.0.0.6, not much differnet in new 1.0.0.7
  • Now connects to open networks. Still does not connect to private ones
  • Turn WiFi on on start option
  • Battery Guard shows confirmation window in case battery level is too low to enable WiFi
  • Collapsible battery guard
  • Network info extended (shows WEP/WPA mode instead of just "open/private")
  • Shows lock icon on protected networks
  • Huge refactoring was done
1.0.0.7

[Update [Mar 09 2009] v1.0.0.5]
* Network sorting bug fixed (could cause runtime exception)

________________________________________
Update [Mar 9 2009] v1.0.0.4]
+ Replaced ugly "Scanning" control with propper network list (still no ability to connect selected network - coming soon)
+ Stability improvements (separated dangerous lower level API calls into their own sandbox)
+ UI checked to look more or less ok on wide screens and in landscape mode (at least it will scroll)
+ Minor UI improvements

---------------------------------------------
Update [Mar 06 2009] v1.0.0.3 * Turn WiFi off on exit finally seems to work
* Should work on Omnia now
* Minor UI fixes

Changelog:

Latest update [Mar 06 2009] v1.0.0.2

+ Graphical resources separated (VGA and QVGA versions)
+ CAB files (VGA/QVGA)
+ Application icon added
+ Basic Options UI added
+ An option to disable inactivity timeout if AC powered
* Numerous fixes
Video added (thx goodgets)

Re: WiFimonster wifi discovery tool

Thank you dschoenike for this great find. This app is definitely one to watch. It's already pretty great as it is, but the dev is really intent on making it better. Good news for us all.

Re: WiFimonster wifi discovery tool v1.0,0.4

First post updated to version 1.0.0.4. UI fixes and features added. This app keeps getting better and better. Supposedly, the dev has updated to ver 1.0.0.5 but he forgot to update the files. I will update this thread/first post when it becomes available.
dschoenike
(this app is extremely stable and functional as it is)

Re: WiFimonster wifi discovery tool v1.0,0.4

pocketnow did a write up about WiFI monster. There is even a youtube video of it here.

dschoenike you might want to add the video the op, it's pretty good.

To everyone else, check this app out. Although it's still in early stages its pretty good. Definitely shaping up to be one of the must haves.
