Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

Here's a good article on "Slot 1 XIP" vs. "Slot 0"

http://blogs.msdn.com/hegenderfer/ar...r-part-ii.aspx

note that it differs slightly for wm6.5 as theres more than one "Slot 1", which is what allows us to have more xip modules, which is what borks when you are using a non-native kernel, which is why you need to flatten some :)

XIP was truely intended for devices running NOR flash (older wm5 and pre-wm5 devices)

With NOR flash you can eXecute In Place.. thus not having to create a local copy in your device's memory.. saving (what was at the time) precious little ram..

I tried all my ways. :(

Edit: I got it, Used the MSXIPKernel and MSXIPKernelLTK from XIP of Vogue ported and it worked. But I cannot figureout why does the MSXIPKernel and MSXIPKernelLTK changes in different ported XIPs of same build. :drunken:

Can you provide more details of how you are doing this. I have an apache for vzw with bootloader 2.02 and i am having the same problem with 21501 build from the PPCK. First splash comes up, then the text in the lower part of the screen, then freeze.

I can build ROMS fine with 21198, but not the 21501. Where are you getting these files, where are you putting them, and when, and do you still build using PPCK? TIA!

Hey thanks for the link buddy, although i am got the bold point of the story, i am re-reading it again and again to grasp as as much as possible as well as searching for other content. This is really cool stuff :)
Now if that's the thing, i think we wont have these kinda problems on a device which comes preloaded with Wm 6.5 as the nk.exe must be natively built for WM 6.5 slot structure.

CDMA is still using 6.1 kernel, correct?

I'm actually curious if the updates to media player have taken care of the memory leak it seemed to have in previous builds. Has anybody been using media player much in 21502, 21215, or 21222?

for 21215 its the same leak.this should help

;=====WMP 6.5 FIX ======
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ Preferences]
"LocalCacheReserve"=dword:04000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ Preferences]
"LocalCacheReserve"=dword:04000000

original values no set at all.by increasing dwords you will reduce the leak.for me this works the best with all wm65 builds

And here is your TP os.nb.payload for 21222. Just paste it back into a rom folder from a previous build and use it in the 21222 setup :)

+1 on that! The Titan is really lacking some good chefs working on 6.5 for public use. You seem really knowledgeable on how to cook and I (and I can guess the rest of the community) would love to see your work.

Same goes to you, DCD. I saw you post here a week or two ago, and wish I knew how to convince you to come back into the open. You have been dearly missed and I hate when I see people write "What's a DCD?"

Cooked 21215 on request, but couldn't uploaded though I tried several times. My ISP at it again, upload speed down to about 1.69-2.00kbps, and worse still often times service is interrupted. Just waiting it out till my contract runs out.
Download is easier, the SYS not usually a large file unlike an RUU, and even for that I would start the download at 12.00 midnight and go to bed, and by the time am up in the morning download would have been completed if there was no interruption in service. Yes I know this is unimaginble in your world.
Alright enough of the tales of woes, I will find a way to beat this and start uploading soon enough.

Great news! That means I can now let go of 21215, and I really loved that rom especially because of the new API in media player. For the first time of all the 6.5 builds I could really enjoy loud music from wmp without the need of a headset.
Is this feature retained in 21222?

Use this base in PPCKitchen I posted here. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...postcount=3532

Edit your BuidlBase to point to this file instead of the SYS_21501_Common. Still use your 21202 or 21210 dpi files.

Don't forget to add your XIP to the Core rar for your device and edit files as such.

Hey, do you post your work? If yes, I would love to direct people to your thread. There is such a high public demand for a good chef for the titan, am not up to it right now for logistic reasons.................... but we have a community to serve and they count.

Wondering where Tplane has been of late, any news? I have been in private communication with Mr Free, but his workload is so hectic we don't know when we can have him back on the scene.
Anyway I can see which direction all fingers are pointing at right now, I believe we can make this work.
