Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

I have the palm treo pro which is a QVGA 320x320 windows mobile 6.1 device...Im interested in upgrading to WM 6.5 or 7.0...Im not a veteran but Im not a total square either...Ive installed different roms to several devices in the past...i.e.mighty,juicy roms to my htc diamond and touch pro before...I need some directions on which edition of WM 6.5 on page 1 of this thread would work on my device(palm pro)...I understand that microsoft has released a beta version 6.5 free for download...any feedback at this moment would be taken with grace...

I assume any and all responsibility of course...I got top shelf insurance..!0!
If there no available edition for my device that OK ill wait..!!!

thx in advance

if you can already currently cook your own roms, you're in luck... if not, you may have to wait

I did notice however, that Media Player seemed to be one part of this puzzle on my Touch Pro. Anyone with a 6.5 kernel seeing this issue?

Also...where's that RTM leak at?:protest:

mine 3 cents ..

device= toshiba g900 (techfaith shark ) .. native 6.5 NK.exe

Gwes.exe around 9-11 mb .. and its absolutely normal coz in mine case gwes.exe mounts to itself 4 drivers from oem ( modules size around 3 mb) . process detail shows only 2.4 mb of cached (leaked ) ram which possibly you may restore via sktools ram free or so . but users of this release ( 2 girls).. never bother about it

ps. main part of leak puzzle .. is a TITANIUM AND LOCKSCREEN .. this 2 applications WRITTEN ON .NET framework .. ... as you may know .net apps leak like hell

forgot mine gwes exe process info dump . NOTE !!! PAGE POOL TURNED OFF !! ( FF FF FF )

Memory usage for Process 807a62d0: 'gwes.exe' pid 5 (partly pageable)

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

I think Lockscreen it's far from being done...
Sometimes the blue bouble from incoming call appears fisrt and then the lockscreen one...
It's kind of weird...
Yesterday i was playing with that, making incoming calls to try to understand what it was appening and didn't get any conclusion.
I stoped when the blue bouble stop responding and stayed in the screen and i had to soft reset...

Does anyone tried lockscreen with the default NETFramework 2 from the default build?
Do you think there is something to do with it?

mo3ulla 05-21-2009 07:32 AM

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

it will NOT change anything ...

titanium and lockscreen uses .net framework 2 LIBS .. framework 3 and 3.5 have SAME FRAMEWORK 2 LIBS .. its for backward compability new version have unchanged versions of previous release versions.

more easy -updating enviromental software like directx or .net . just adds new commands and features which NOT affect old programs and applications

so .net 3.5 holds release versions ( unchanged ) of .net framework 1+.netframework 2+ .net framework 3 + .net 3 updates ( sso called 3.5 version )

I'm just saying because i saw in the Da_G rom thread where he says "New for v3: Removed GettingStarted/WelcomeCenter in favor of .NET CF 3.5".
The GettingStarted/WelcomeCenter only works with NET CF 2 (I think this is it)...

It's easy but not a straight forward process. First of all renaming .tsk to cab, cab back to .tsk not necessary.
Get hold of a Cab Analyzer [mine came as part of Hypercore Kitchen package]. Use this tool to extract the contents of of your .tsk file to a folder. [it reads both cab and tsk files]
In that folder you will have the jpg image files and the Microsoft .INF file which contains the reg info for the funtionality of the theme. Modify the theme whichever way you want but save in jpg format.
Next get hold of a licensed Wince Cab Manager, open the application. Under the File tab, click new, then again under the File tab click import fom INF. Select the INF file from your working folder, response would be "could not locate folder, browse folders, click yes then browse to where the your original tsk file is, click to open and you will get same response as quoted above. This time click "No" and it will recognise and load the .tsk file. Now replace only the jpg files with the ones from your working folder or any jpg file atall of your liking [mod for your screen resolution ofcourse].
Observe to name the files as eg for qvga
stwater_240_320.jpg......
stwater_320_240.jpg.....
Then save as a .tsk file.
Enjoy your theme without any loss of funtionality. Or better still chose one of the tsk file which scroll bar colors and color theme you like the best and place your own jpg files there.

Very nicely done. Thank you.

 . ms NEVER RELEASED COMPACT FRAMEWORK 3.5 AS STAND ALONE PACKET. only avaible CAB to install above existing 2.0 .net which adds framework 3.5 new functions ..so called .net 3.5 packet ( which nearly all use ) its just work of entusiasts ..

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

old story . i download .net 3.5 from xda nearly year ago .. but with this packet some nice and useful software refuses to work .. i start reserch ... then i repack entire .net packet .. and ALL APPS WORKING again .... so its just a matter of used package

Hi, it works, but results are the same as cooking in NetCF2 and NetCF3.5 together, was hoping for it to work with just NetCF3.5 package :)

Thanks, though :)

Here is 21234 Common files. I have Adobe Flash, and Browseie recmod. so it should work fine on these devices. Adobe was 2 MB in modules, so I figured that would save more space. so we should be good to go for right now.

added below is the 21234 XIP.bin

need some help with the 212** builds and using ppckitchen. for the life of me I don't know what I've managed to screw up, but every time I've tried to build a rom this last week, it won't boot p***** the second splash. I'm sure it has to do with how I have things set out in either the buildbase or devicebase txt files. Can someone with a working Vogue 21232 build post your xip file and the buildbase and devicebase txt files? greatly appreciated!!

Sorry I haven't learnt how to use ppck yet, I have it downloaded though but when I read of the things you guys who use it go through, just scares me a bit cos it's broad based. When these builds slow down in coming I will settle down to learn I hope:mrgreen:

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

21215+ have all had the Timebomb code and everything removed from them.

HTC has been making roms from 6.5 for a while now. I have some HTC SYS from 21189, 21193, 21194, 21202, 21210, and a few others. from anything from QVGA to WVGA, so HTC has had the files for a while.

HTC when they release the files will be 216xx,

The MS files are all 212xx, and the OEM will then change the build number and add there own fixes to the sys and everything from there. It seems like Samsung has the 215xx, HTC has the 216xx, and that is all I really know for sure at this time.

HTC is testing just MS builds at this time then 212xx, and I have only seen a few HTC release roms at this time. one 21602, it is a higher number but it is based off 21215 area, it is not a fake build, it is just a higher number to deal some things that HTC fixed.

Da_G seems to know more about this then I do, but here is something that he posted.

21234 is the latest post-release code (building up to AKU 1 update release)

the only 215xx SAMsung builds ive seen in are in the wild were not shared with the OEM folders in them, which is where the work would be done, so the older build wouldn't be anything but older code..

Yeah, for starters, get rid of hd.dll and osaxst0.dll, I don't know wut giisr.dll is, but I would try without it as well since I normally only see nk.exe down there...

I don't know what its for either, but its in my last XIP that I ported from Da G's kitchen (21232). As are the other two files.

What do they do?

That map was when I manually ported the XIP. This is how it looks with XIPKitchen.

80357000 - 80357000 L00000000 Start: start of RAM
80357000 - 8050f000 L001b8000 initialized data of region_3 nk.exe

86e9d000 - 86e9d000 L00000000 End: end of RAM

I honestly think its an issue with nk.exe that I need to resolve, but I'm no expert here. I did make a build without the hd.dll and osaxst0.dll, and it still hung on the bootloader before the OS starts.

No, without giirs.dll you will get stuck at the loading screen..don't delete that file, it's crucial for Samsung devices. You must reloc overlapping modules with XIPAddrTools and giisr.dll with m'reloc-nk
