how do you guys backup your PPC before flasing? - Page 4

Remember, PIM Backup only backs up PIM data. That's your calendar, contacts, notes, and task lists. Check if Dashwire will b/u your pic mail. If it doesn't, you may want to consider dropping some $ for SPB

Either. I'd like to be able to backup, and then restore after a flash por hard reset and have them show up in the picture mail inbox. Just like you can do with email and texts.

If thats not possible then I guess I could just save the images from picture mail to the storage card.

On another idea, if I hard reset or flash a ROM and then connect to picture mail will it just download all the messages? I wonder if Id have to log on via a PC and mark the messages as unread or something.

I cant think of a free application capable of doing that, if you purchase SPB,SKTools,Sprite,Resco,etc, iam sure you can do that.Or like you said saving the pictures into the storage card.

Does anyone know for sure that when doing a full restore with Spb backup that new registry tweaks from the new ROM won't be overwritten? That's the only thing that really worries me, would be kind of counterproductive to flash a freshly tweaked ROM only to restore the previous registry entries right after.

I'll definitely buy Spb if I can have piece of mind about this one thing.

I don't backup my phone...I pretty much have everything installed on my StorageCard...

And when I flash, I have SDConfig.txt reinstall things I need, and my provxml files restores any other settings I might need!

My PIM data syncs with an exchange server.

I can't imagine SPB would be able to do that. How would it know which items in the registry you want saved and which ones you want overwritten?

I agree, but there are two different options on SPB restore with a new ROM. One option is "overwrite everything" & I forget exactly what the other one says out of my head, but it does not overwrite all the new files. I'm not sure how that would apply to the reg however (I've wondered about that myself)

You just need a usb driver... Mostly useful for moving data from a non-WM phone to WM... Also useful if you don't use activesync and/or outlook...

I personally like it for hacking the phone if it is unlocked... Plus it's open source, so functionality can be added if needed as long as someone is willing to program...

May not be the best prog, but its free and I like it...
