So the backup is just a full backup, but when you try to do a restore, that's where ROM restore mode is activated?

I vaguely remember some sort of error at that point saying it couldn't do a ROM upgrade because it thought my device was different. I don't recall exactly what happened there though.

I think there are more advanced options than bitpim... I don't think they support WM...

You just need a usb driver... Mostly useful for moving data from a non-WM phone to WM... Also useful if you don't use activesync and/or outlook...

I personally like it for hacking the phone if it is unlocked... Plus it's open source, so functionality can be added if needed as long as someone is willing to program...

May not be the best prog, but its free and I like it...

Re: how do you guys backup your PPC before flasing?

I was talking about specific backup of stuff, not a full SPB,
the main reason I need to backup/restore is cause they keep releasing Touch Pro ROMs...

Re: how do you guys backup your PPC before flasing?

If you just want to back up the basics (contacts, appointments, etc.), just use Active Sync... It's easy and free... If you want a more complete back up, use what has been listed...

Re: how do you guys backup your PPC before flasing?

Has anyone used RescoBackup? I used it on my Palm Treo 650 so when I switched to the Touch Pro I just naturally got the WM version, not knowing what the "standard" WM backup programs are.

Re: how do you guys backup your PPC before flasing?

I usually just reinstall all my apps and what not when I flash. I don't have a whole lot added so it's not been a problem in the past. I use PIM Backup 2.8 to backup my contacts, etc, but it doesn't back up Sprint PictureMail as I understand it. How do I back up that stuff or at least move it to the storage card?
