Re: how do you guys backup your PPC before flasing?
PIM Backup gets a lot of press on this site, but the thing to remember is that it only backs up PIM data (contacts, calendar, notes, tasks). If you want a complete system b/u, you'll need to go w/something like SPB Backup (www.spbsoftwarehouse.com). I recently flashed to a custom 6.1 ROM for my 700WX. I made a complete system b/u, flashed the device, and then ran the backup file. Presto!! Back in business. No need to reinstall programs, re-do email settings, etc

HTC has a free backup program you can use for either backing up the entire system or just PIM data. Check here.

Re: how do you guys backup your PPC before flasing?
This post is timely. I have SPB Backup and intend to use it with my Diamond to flash Mighty's latest ROM.
With SPB Backup I had to manually copy my internal 4GB folder, though. I didn't think it would all be THAT easy, though. Wouldn't my SPB Backup restore blow away some important registry information? Where does the ROM stop and the backed up data start? |

I do nightly backups with SPB Backup.
Activesync backups are done whenever I hook up to my PC. For special backups, I use BITPIM (http://www.bitpim.org/) |
