Re: Barcode Scanner in here (Like the G1) [APP]
Sorry, I can see how the "location specific" wording might have been misleading. I just edited the post to be clearer.
The way its setup it just opens a google products page for the item you scanned, which for now is online only. If you can find a database of local stores pricing and inventory you can edit the options to point there instead. I have a feeling it will be a long time before we see something like that though. |

Re: Barcode Scanner in here (Like the G1) [APP]
I honestly have no idea. Ive never even seen a G1.
![]() It could sort of work for local stuff. It might pull up a price for a Target or Best Buy or something but you would have to look up a local one and check stock / price yourself. It think right now its best used as a indicator as to whether or not you're getting a good deal. If it finds 10 places online that are selling your item for 40% cheaper, maybe you should look somewhere else. |

Re: Barcode Scanner in here (Like the G1) [APP]
I think the key is that this program takes a picture and interprets the bar code.
The program makes it very simple to replace google with any other online lookup. So, if you find a better site that will search pricing based on a UPC, then you can use that. I saw some people in the xda thread were using pricegrabber. |

Heh, I wrote my own, and its in similar state to the one linked. I'm not half-assing mine though, its going to do real time video interpretation, none of thos trying to take the perfect picture crap.

Awesome Util ! Thx to all from XDA and PPCgeeks that brought it to us! Tested and confirmed. It works like a charm. I would suggest to keep the phone about 3+ inches or so away from the Barcode ( depending on the barcode of course). I tried it both in Landscape and Portrait mode and it read the barcode very fast. Also if you want to add the the different website it very easy to do and you don't have to change it on the phone...When you have ur phone connected to ur PC navigate to the file location of Barcorama and drag and drop the settings.txt file to your desktop and open it with notebad and simply change the settings as listed by Daveotero or add the website of your liking. Hope this Helps. TK |
