Re: iPhone Program....

Well...I use this:

http://smartphonetracker.blogspot.com/

And it is brilliant. Only thing is that U have to have it installed on the other party's cell phone as well. I often Track my wife and it responds w/ google map location....to Pin-point accuracy instantenously. It is a very nice program.

And you can use it in stealth mode..so the other person doesnt know when u ping them. And thats exactly what sprint-family-locator offers for a fee. This is FREE. The logic is...U send a standard sms (getgpspos, OR u can have any that U like.) ...which makes the other party's phone shoot it's location in lattitude / longitude...and plots it on google maps. U can assign to recieve an email or an sms or both to see the location.

Hope that helps.

Re: iPhone Program....

The program the OP saw is Loopt. It's available for the iPhone, Blackberry and a lot of regular phones that use Java, but not for Windows Mobile. I'm not sure if you can install the versions for the regular phones onto WM using a Java program, but I haven't been able to get the jar/jad files to test it.

If you watch the commercial closely, you'll notice that he finds his friend drinking a latte and replies to her to go to lunch. The only problem is that she was drinking a latte on 10/28 and when he replies, the date is 10/31. Hmm, is he asking her to lunch based on what she was doing 3 days ago, or did those iPhone idiots just screw up on the commercial?

Re: iPhone Program....

either way programs like these are mere gimmicks or fun toys at best. the major problem is there is no "standard" to these programs or services. If the people you talk to dont use them, which is rare that they do or have a compatible device, then its useless really.

Re: iPhone Program....

I don't think this is a gimmick at all. There are many times that I need to track down my wife and she doesn't hear her phone at the bottom of her purse. With this I could figure out where she is. But my problem is that she uses a phone called 'Juke' - tiny, tiny phone and it isn't a windows mobile phone. But it does do texting - anything that might work with that. I have a Verizon mogul.
