Anybody still using this?

Pibe38 06-08-2007 09:31 PM

I login every now and then, but not many people answer... there also seems to be a long time from the last update so I don't know what's going on.

CozBoogie 06-08-2007 10:56 PM

I log in a few times a week (my wife and I use it). However, the novelty of it has worn off a bit.

New Palringo Update 0612/07

EDIT: New CAB uploaded to FIRST post.

Just received an e-mail from the Palringo team...

Quote:

The latest version of the PC and Windows Mobile Palringo application is now being rolled out! If you have not received the update already, you should receive an automatic update the next time you sign into Palringo.

This version adds some frequently requested functionality, offers many important enhancements to previously existing functionality, and addresses issues with the previous build which had been found by ourselves or reported by our users.

In addition to the changes in the Windows application - summarised below - during this time period we have seen significant developments on the server backend, enhancements to the Symbian application, updates to our registration process which make it easier to sign up and create a new user account, and have streamlined our support process. Congratulations to everyone for making this happen!

The main changes since the last publicly released update (10-May-2007) are summarised below.

-

Updated message history system
==============================
Rather than navigating through the menu to retrieve message history, you can now just scroll upwards and older messages will be downloaded automatically!

New power saving functionality
==============================
Palringo users will no longer notice a drain on their Pocket PC batteries, thanks to a novel combination of power saving techniques present in the latest version.

User interface enhancements
===========================
We've made many tweaks to the user interface, such as adding collapsible overview screen sections, updated icons, an about window, mouse wheel support, keyboard/mouse shortcuts, additional context menus, and Pocket PC chat window titles.

Improved automatic updates
==========================
Future automatic updates will be downloaded using a new and improved patch system which features lower data usage and a refined user interface.

Better, faster, more reliable
=============================
We've added a multitude of tweaks and fixes to ensure that the application feels snappier, more robust, and uses less memory. We've also fixed many issues ranging from commonly-reported bugs, to obscure issues running Palringo under WINE/Linux.

-

We all hope you enjoy our new features and improved functionality!! As always, we would love to have your feedback both positive and negative to help us improve future releases. You can either visit our website www.palringo.com, or drop us a mail at support@palringo.com

A big thank you to our development team who have been working so very hard to make this release possible, and a even bigger thank you to all of you for all your feedback and input in helping us make all these new features possible.

Don't forget our Symbian beta version is now available for download via our website!!

Kind regards,

Your Palringo Team

voice message quality from mogul?

Hey all,

Been driving myself crazy trying to figure out why the voice message quality is crap in this program (Via the PPC6800/Mogul/Titan)... sounds like i'm under water... I tried doing a soft reset to ensure that nothing else was running, checked memory and had 20+ MB RAM available... tried screwing with audio setup in Settings (Personal, Input, Options)...

Not sure what the deal is, but someone else with a 6800 had the same issue in the PPCGeeks group chat. 6700 users sounded clear as could be, so I'm wondering if it's an audio codec version or something? The registry points to audio/x-speex and I found a recent version was released, but I didn't find a WM-friendly version.

I really hope it isn't a slow ass CPU dragging things down, from what I can tell programs like Resco are reported to work on sub-300Mhz processors using x-speex...

I've submitted this through Palringo's Support page, but I dunno when I'll be hearing back... any ideas, guys?

Thanks!

I've signed up ihatestupidpeople at gmail dot com

The website says it works with other IM programs, yet I don't see how you set that up. Is that feature not enabled yet?

CozBoogie 07-10-2007 11:14 AM

Anyone else received an email from Palringo that asks the following:

Please could you let us know if the pictures you are receiving are from the same platform device as you use?? (ie Symbian, Win mobile etc)

If you send yourself a picture, are you able to open it?

Please could you let us know.

Kind Regards,
Your Palringo Support Team

Hey this would be worth $$$ if someone made a gateway to the PTT MiKE network in Canada. I almost got a different phone because it did not have a PTT MiKE feature.

(PS: That's the largest animated sig image I've ever seen.. 233kb on a site designed for moblie phones? OMG)

FYI - checked reg file, compared to current reg settings for Palringo.. looks like i'm already set to that server/port combo. Still experience audio skipping (underwater sounding, almost) with Mogul.

Did you enable the battery-saving feature in the Options?

Also, why does it say on the title there's a new version as of 07/23? Neither of my clients have updated.
