Ok so has anyone noticed that since yahoo has changed their website format, that if your trying to read news you cannot with the smartfit option on now. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Also sometimes the sound does not work, whats that about? I mean I love the browser but the longer I have it the more trouble its giving me.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

Some servers aren't forwarding audio properly, it's a known issue and is completely random, the best resolution is to disconnect for Skyfire and relaunch the application, usually you'll know you're connected to a server with audio forwarding capabilities when you briefly see the audio icon appear once the Skyfire homepage loads.

Hope that helps.

That has been a constant ongoing problem. That & the non saving of bookmarks, inability to sign in/authenticate etc etc etc etc are all problems on the server end.

Skyfire is pretty sweet when it works, but it is 100% totally dependent on their servers working correctly & that is definitely a crap shoot at times........

Yeah I've been disconnecting and reconnecting to fix the issue but it takes so long for it to load up sometimes that its just a hassle. I hope they work this bug out because its a major one seeing as what makes this browser good is the ability to view and hear videos within it but its no good if I can only see the clip.

Skyfire goes to Open Beta!!!!

:headbang:Not living in the USA meant I had to make up a bogus US phone number when setting up my Skyfire account, but the email confirmation from SkyFire had a link to download the SkyFire cab file and I've been like the guy who invented the rear vision mirror since (I've never looked back!)

Skyfire Opens Beta

Today, skyfire opened its beta to everyone. I am from Canada and I know the beta was exclusive to users in the States, but is there a .cab file somewhere that can give me access to this browser?

I received an e-mail today from Skyfire and was able to download it after logging in to the Skyfire site. I was surprised that it worked since I'm from Canada as well, and the site still clearly says that its only for US residents. Here's the CAB I downloaded:

I'm from Canada and I've had Skyfire beta 0.8.0.6883 for about a month. Didn't know it wasn't available to Canada before. Is there a difference from my version and the one posted by Firefox360?

Re: Skyfire goes to Open Beta!!!!

Dl it today to try on my Pro and it seemed to work fine except for when switching from portrait to landscape and back either by softkey or sliding the keyboard. Skyfire would only be displayed on half the screen and whatever was below it would be displayed on the other half. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Is there a way to make this new update never connect via your data plan? I have a 6700, so it's $45/month for unlimited...needless to say, I don't have that. The old version would connect/authenticate via WiFi, the new one always dials your data plan to sign in.

I noticed that also. I have unlimited data, so I don't care but a guy I work with uses only wifi (I have a linksys wireless router in my office that he connects to) & he has been unable to use skyfire connecting through wifi.

I disabled the dial #777 option in his phone so it never attemps to connect that way.

Skyfire doesn't seem to like VGA displays. You'll have to wait for the next release before it works for the Diamond or Pro. I can't wait!! I hate Opera.

Re: Skyfire goes to Open Beta!!!!

Skyfire sucks! I am also in canada and have been waiting for a long tim for it to be released to us and i gotta say im sadly disappointed. Sure the flash works, but is it worth it for the super slow rendering of images everytime your scrool the screen, or the annoying zoom? Been using opera int he meantime and i have to say in my opinion it is 100x a better browser for everyday general use.

I really hop skyfire steps it up before they are finished calling it a "beta"

please tell me im not the only one who thinks this way...

Unfortunately, everywhere in the Skyfire forums they are saying that there is no current support for VGA displays...

Users have been able to install Skyfire on VGA devices, however, you might only get "half-screen" views, the browser may not scale properly to hi-res screen sizes.
Thank you.

After signing up and installing Skyfire, I found that I only had a half screen displaying. A little search in their forum revealed that the Touch Diamond is not supported yet ... apparently no VGA screen phones are yet supported.

Has anyone been able to get Skyfire to run on the Diamond?

skyfire will work in landscape mode on VGA. but you have to sign in while your in the halfscreen thing. once your signed in, you can use skyfire as usual, just in landscape mode though :-\

I really liked skyfire on the mogul but I must say I was sort of put off when I went to the forums there and see the flippant attitude the moderators have with people asking questions on VGA support. Its not like VGA devices just came out yesterday.....

Like telling people for 6 months, VGA is not supported, end of story, with no indication if it will really ever be supported, and acting like people shouldn't be asking and then Rick Rolling them "For info on ETA or support for the following: HTC Diamond, HTC Touch Pro, Samsung Omnia, VGA Devices, Blackberry's, Android, Palm OS, iPhone's, PDA's, connection via Proxy, other countries / international, installation to storage card, final Skyfire release...

Are you saying that's not flippant?

I've been using Wince/PPC/Winmo devices since 1997 and until Apple came out with their FIRST generation and got WinMo developers off their arse the web browsing experience on winmo devices has been TERRIBLE among other things.

Yeah...that's a bit on the rude side for the Skyfire Forum Mods to be dishing out.

On the other hand, I'm a big fan of Rick Astley!

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

I'm trying out this browser. I've been a steady/loyal fan of Opera 9.5 and Opera Mini but for a change, I decided to try this one out.

It seems great. One thing that makes it less ideal for me is the font size. I have looked at the settings and checked whether I can modify the font size because I find it a little too small. Even on maximum zoom, its a lot smaller than what my eyes are used to in Opera Browser/Mini.

Is there a way the font size can be increased? I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Thanks a lot.

Yup, it's constant ongoing problems like this that remind me why you NEVER want to install this thing as your default browser (although it is certainly nice to have in conjunction with Opera)

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

skyfire in its current form is still more compliant to QVGA...technically Skyfire is still in beta. So what can you really expect. FULL VGA support will probably have to wait til they have Skyfire proliferated with all other platforms. Also, it may yet still be awhile before Skyfire finally reaches 1.0. Heck, by that time...we might have a Fennec beta to play with!!! Honestly though, for right now...Skyfire with its flash support...is a nifty browser to have in your device.
