SPB online released!!!!

I received my reply email with a link to the download and some very detailed info on the software. I will post my impression after I test it a bit. I work for Alltel so that may have something to do with why I was approved...

OMG I love this software....
First, taking into account the fact that picking a channel to watch takes several clicks, Spb has developed a channel selection screen that collects all the channel information, needed for making an informed decision in one screen: a screenshot of the running TV program plus TV guide info. Yes, it does show only a screenshot (2-3 seconds old) and not the live video, but thanks to this trick, it only takes less than a half second to switch channels, which when compared to several seconds, needed for switching between video steams.
Spb has implemented a picture-in-picture mode. This rocks...At times, when a channels and shows running simultaneously might become "overwhelmingly" intriguing, the picture-in-picture mode allows checking ‘what else is on’ without leaving the current channel for good. Switching between channels in this mode also only takes 0.2 seconds respectively.

Integrated TV guide had been added...light years better that those pocketstreamer apps

Backlight control in full screen mode (not brightness which is almost useless, but device backlight)
reminders from the TV guide if you see an interesting show to watch later i have not tried out yet...
Battery level information: estimated battery time and current time in full screen mode. I love the estimated battery function. Im not sure how big of a drain this will be but it doesnt seem any more than most other media software...
Automatically reduced video quality (with sustained audio quality) if Internet connection slows down works well. I blocked the phone sig with a device we have for that purpose and the quality dropped but it didnt get choppy or pause the feed with some dreaded buffering prompt.

More testing is need but so far this is by far the best media software i have used...more to come. =D>

- Customize User Interface
Spb Online is based on the Spb Mobile Shell UI engine which is proven to be well customizable for OEM and mobile operator partners. For example you could check how Spb Mobile Shell was customized for Toshiba:

- Customize Content
The list of TV channels, radio stations, news, etc that you see in the test version of Spb Online can be customized. First of all we continue working on including more news channels and radio stations to the catalog so we will have much bigger selection in one month. Secondly we can give you decision rights that channels will be selected by default.

- Server-side Customization
The TV servers should be hosted as close to your data centers as possible. Or may be even be hosted them by you because traffic from them to your servers will be big.

- Catalog Customization and Integration
Spb Online includes an on-device catalog that end users can use to buy programs, games, ringtones and themes directly from their devices. We need to integrate this catalog with your phone account system that people can buy content using their phone account. Another option could be using credit cards for payment. You can also have control over what content is included in the catalog.

Yes, but you can (and they even suggest it) install on a memory card. Mine has been running very stable from my memory card since the first beta package!!

Yeah thats true i wasnt about to run that from the device and it seems to run pretty well from there. No issues so far. Also when i look at the amount of memory all the seperate apps that i have now use. Just running spb online is a draw in that respect...

I don't see it listed in the options to add it as a tab to Mobile Shell on my Today Screen. Am I missing something? Do I need to dig into the registry?
