Re: Kinoma media player

@Charles

Basically, please tell your developers that we need to be able to manually choose our folders, be it all, some or none. Then we are all happy campers... and spending money on your product.

Win - Win if you ask me

I have been playing with Kinoma on & off now that I have it at least half way working. I have decided that unless I can turn off the scan totally I will be unable to use this awesome program.

The scan is an absolute deal-breaker unfortunately. I had saved an awesome youtube video (a live StevieRay Vaughn clip) as a favorite in Kinoma & wanted to show it to my Wife.

Tonight, I had my phone sitting in a cradle on my kitchen table & was in no great hurry so I started Kinoma & was waiting out the scan to show her the video. The problem is, 40 minutes later it was still scanning & the Wife had gone out by that time.

Kinoma's support is very responsive & is working with me to correct this. I REALLY hope they provide a way to turn off the scan (which I have no use for whatever) because then it would be a killer app.

I was A/B ing Skyfire & Kinoma tonight for youtube & I can say there is no comparison, Kinoma blows away Skyfire for perfect youtube playback. The Kinoma youtube image is WAY better than Skyfire & it full screens the video's automatically as opposed to trying to get it right with Skyfire's awful zoom feature..

If I can have Kinoma work minus the scanning, I would delete Skyfire from my system & use Opera Mobile & Kinoma exclusively.

Re: Kinoma media player

the interface is really nice, but like everyone else has said, its useless without being able to pick folders to scan. my media folder in kinoma is full of icons and other things that aren't photos. keep working on it and i would buy the software for $20. $30 is too much when you consider almost everything competing with kinoma is free.

That's bad, and with each update we're adding exceptions for sloppy Windows Mobile apps that are storing resources in places other than reserved application folders.

We need your help. Can you please contact our support folks, or email me personally at charles@ our domain with the full path to the application icons or other resources you're seeing? Just choose Media > Get Info from the menu pod and scroll down to Address.

Friday's update has workarounds for several apps, and we have another update coming our very soon -- the sooner I can get that info from you the better.

Kinoma Play is really a new type of app, and it's deceptively deep, so I recommend checking out the quick-start guide and this list of 101 Kinoma Play features and tips. There's also several reviews that go into quite a bit of depth about what makes Kinoma Play different.

Instead of giving us $20, Kinoma FreePlay is probably right for you. You can also get the full Kinoma Play for free by "checking out" with (i.e. taking advantage of an offer from) TrialPay.

Re: Kinoma media player

anyway, i thought i'd put in my two cents since no one has spoken about any other problem except the storage card issue. i've been using the program for a while and i think it's great. i'm also having the storage card problem but it just started happening so i'm not too annoyed just yet.
one thing i did notice immediately was the problem with podcasts. i'm a podcast fanatic and not only can kinoma not read xml lists but you can't program in your own feed urls.
has anyone else noticed this issue or am i missing a step?

From the Main Menu bring up the Player options and choose "Open URL."

Re: Kinoma media player

since this thing scans out entire phone and storage card i am now more then ever convinced that this is a promgram from the government and riaa to combat piracy in media. I see no reason for it to allways scan everytime you start the program to "find" my media.
