Re: Kinoma media player

The main reason to get the paid over the free is streaming of videos and music from your PC. As well as more codecs being supported, advanced configuration settings, App store, More Radio stations, browse, search, and play photos and photostreams from Flickr, SmugMug, MobileMe. Also, you can create custom Home screens for fast access to your favorite stuff. ZoomLinks let you jump instantly to almost anything — individual items, entire albums, even specific features of Kinoma Play apps. Create pages for friends’ Flickr photostreams, YouTube favorites and Twitter tweets, pages of “presets” to live radio streams and podcasts. Catch breaking news updates from Reuters. Watch recorded TV via your home PC, or bring it with you. View hundreds of webcams and traffic cameras built into Kinoma Guide, or tune into your own kid-cam or pet-cam wherever you are.

Ok, I'm done now. Not a bad feature set, really. I just want my MTV, oops :computer: I mean Live TV!

Wow, I didn't know that you couldn't stream live TV via Orb, that's very disappointing. Can you watch live TV via a SlingBox using Kinoma?

John, with all due respect, you have been on this thread since the beginning (and the thread is a year old)...that being the case, I'm sure your using this program for something. It seems to me like you got your money's worth. Just my 2 cents (plus $30).

I have been posting in this thread about as long as John has and I'm the same way. I barely use it anymore. But I still install it :D Also keep in mind $30 via trialpay isn't like shelling out $30 hard earned dollars. I have a few Trialpay programs I no longer use.

Also try any video from this feed http://feeds.theonion.com/onn/mrss they play choppy as hell, downloaded or streaming. They aren't h.264 or anything. CorePlayer WMP and HTC album all play them 'better'

Re: Kinoma media player

This may not be the correct thread for my comment, but since ive seen orb mentioned a few times, why not :)
Ive been with ppc's for a little over 3 years now, and still get amazed with what i can do with these phones. Just yesterday, i finally decided to see what this "orb" program does. Being a slingbox user, orb always seemed to creep into the topic for comparisons. Since im not super computer saavy, i always figured getting orb to work was gonna be way beyond my skill level. Holy crap!! Orb is awesome, and extra awesome with Kinoma. I cant believe what ive been missing all this time.
As for Kinoma in general, there's quite a few features that i dont and probably never use. The things i do use Kinoma for (audible, now Orb, shoutcast, youtube, and viewing pictures) i feel Kinoma does these things extremely well. Im an audiobook junkie, so getting Kinoma through trial pay by signing up for an audible.com account was perfect.
Id like to thank Charles@kinoma for being a pat of this community and listening to the customers and providing support. Also like to thank jmorton for helping improve Kinoma by providing his feedback for a very long time, even if you dont use it anymore :)

Re: Kinoma media player

I too just purchased after watching the cool review on the Snapdragon device (that thing is sweet!)...to the point, and to try to get Charles to answer...Why is the video so lousy? Even the you tube app is poor video...and funnt thing is, it was better last night!?

Charles...is KP going to address the video performance mentioned here, if so, when?

I am still playing with other features; many of which are worthy...but an all in one solution would be cool...please let us know. Thanks

Thanks for the tip, I bought the program last night (right at midnight) for $15. Worth every penny if you ask me.

hey charles, thought I'd let ya know I use the autosearch for pictures today. I'm grateful your team put so much work into that, even though I keep it set on manual :), it saved me hunting for phantom pictures my camera wasn't saving. :)

There's a few potential bottlenecks when streaming video, and a crucial one is the current state of your phone's data connection.

If the video was playing fine at one point but isn't now, the most likely difference is the speed of your data connection. Kinoma Play doesn't like to make people wait for buffering while playing a clip, so it automagically chooses the highest-quality stream that it thinks will play without buffering given your current network conditions.
