Arrow Text password app

I was wondering if anyone is aware of an app that could lock your text messages only. I would prefer it to pop up and ask for a number pw when you touch the text button of HtcHome. I am aware that you can lock the whole phone but this can be very annoying, I think this app could benefit a lot of people. If there isn't one maybe someone with some programming skills could write one it doesn't seem like it would be a very tough thing to create. Any help would be great

Re: Text password app

Might not be exactly what you're looking for, however I use Tombo and it works very well. You're able to password protect Tombo 'Notes' (not the native Windows Mobile note program) and it'll sync seamlessly with the desktop version whenever you activesync.

Here's the link:

Freeware too!

Cheers

Re: Text password app

that program would be ideal for me as well. something that places a pw on the sms/mms box and the email folders would be ideal.

http://classic.pocketgear.com/softwa...associateid=17

or Easy Secret SMS

or http://classic.pocketgear.com/softwa...associateid=17

never tried any of them. don't like the price. but willing to pay if it works properly. i don't want a new SMS or email folder though, i'm not sure if these method would create new folders for them or just password protect the OEM setups

Re: Text password app

These programs look ok but the price seems way high. Also they do way more than I really need. I just want something similar to the normal device lock but to pop up when I enter my messaging. It would be ideal if it could be set for any program, This way you could have it pop up for emails, texts and pictures but nothing else.

[dev] LockDown, keeping messages private
Don't you hate it when you let someone play with your shiny new WM phone
they usually go right to your SMS inbox?

jonesj8 had the same irritation, so inspired by him I threw something together
Original thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375057

I created a new thread to have a bit more overview, and also to get it under the attention of other users who might be interested
@mods
I can understand if you close this thread...

How does it work.
this version requires you to change all the .lnk files pointing to tmail.exe, or to the dll...maybe even other ones...
I say all lnk's but the most important are the ones the "friend" is going see/use.
I've included a shortcut creator in the attachment.

In FileList.ini specify the application to block,
in the included file it's \WIndows\tmail.exe
and i've used msg as argument.

so in the .lnk would point to lockdown.exe with the argument msg
if the passcode is correct the file will be opened.

it's not very quick (since it needs to be opened) but this should change in the next version.

the passcode can be changed in the settings.ini, default is 12345

Let me know what you think or if you have any ideas

To do
- have the program run in the background and popup when needed
- include support for different screen sizes
- create an installer
- way to customize the colors
- vga support
