Re: Best MP3 Player for Large Library?

I have tried about a dozen players over the years, and keep going back to PocketMusic by PocketMind. When I paid up the $5 to upgrade from the version 4 bundle to version 5, I found alot of things with my Sprint Touch suddenly became way more stable. Both my 6gig and my 8gig cards are full almost to the max with MP3s encoded VBR averaging about 260k bits/sec. If somebody requests a tune I know is on the card in my Touch, I go to WM Search (shortcut icon on Today Screen), put in a part of the title or artist, specify the Type by selecting "Larger than 64k" and within a couple seconds, that song is playing. Or, most of the time, I'm playing regular rotation of my two major playlists: current faves (10~40 tracks), and past faves (approx 1400 tracks, on 8gigger, another 1000 on 6gig). PocketMusic 5.0 plays it all flawlessly, while wearing the skin I built specifically for it. Even the free version of PocketMusic is now skinnable. To be honest, though, I have not tried Pocket Player. Upon looking over their Web pages and thinking about it's possibilities, I can't see where it would do anything better than PockerMusic for me.

Re: Best MP3 Player for Large Library?

I like PocketPlayer, but I have not tried PocketMusic. PocketPlayer seems to use less memory than WMP and also supports A2DP. After these props for PocketMusic, though, I think I might give it a try. Looks like PM supports A2DP also. Does anyone know what the paid verison offers over the free?

Re: Best MP3 Player for Large Library?

I think pocketplayer has a better ui than pocket music.

No way would I suggest PocketTunes however. First of all..its a ripoff at $37. Second of all pocketplayer has more features according to this review.

pocketplayer and pocketmusic are both extremely nice apps. pretty much like a draw. the most visually appealing though i'd have to give to slide2play.

S2P is ok, but isn't exactly organized, and does not have a shuffle all feature that I can find, and not to mention it takes forever to navigate through so many different artists.

I'm looking for a program that can handle 1500+ songs without having any problems. HTC Audio Manager will not load all of my songs, so its useless to me.

I'm running WM6.1, if it matters.
1. S2P does have a shuffle and repeat feature. tap on the middle of the
screen when the app is running.

2. Htc audio manager has a tendency not to automatically add new song to its library. I get this all the time! What you need to do is reinstall
Audio manager and then all your songs will be in the library.

3. Pocket music is ideal for those of us with so much music in our Sd's.
Pocket music I highly recomend it.

Re: Best MP3 Player for Large Library?

I've tried 6 or 7 different players, they all had some issue. S2P has the fewest problems IMO, it has shuffle, album art, you can turn off the screen and still control volume and next song. You do have to organize you music but I do that anyway. I have over 6gig's of music on my card.

Re: Best MP3 Player for Large Library?

personall... pocket music is what I like to use .. its got book mark features.. and most importantly.. it will play my audible audio books in stereo over bluetooth.. and the bluetooth remot functions work in it... my second favorit is honestly the built in windows media.. (one of these days Im going to ask people why they hate windows media so much) windows media .wma .wmv files are smaller.. and perfect for portable devices.. and it syncs very very nicely with the desktop version of media player... if itunes is your thing.. then pocket tunes is probly a good choice.. because it will sync up with your itunes library.. wich if you have a mac... might be a good thing.. havent tested if it will sync on the mac or not.. havent looked in to it. I did use this application on my treon650.. the older version of this software worked wonders..

so the gerneral consensis.. is

Pocket Music: great audio book support has support for streaming audio and shoutcast. http://www.pocketmind.com/
Pocke tunes: great for syncing with itunes http://www.pocket-tunes.com/
Windows Media: great for syncing on windows media for the desktop and those that want to use wma/wmv
Pocket Player: looks inersting plays .ogg and FLAC looks like iim going to tive this oen a try just to take it for a drive.. perhaps a replacement for TCPMP?? http://www.conduits.com/products/player/
TCPMP: was free.. changed over to become The CORE player mobile.. and for what it is.. its freaking expensive.. in compaired to what it used to cost.. good player.. from some of the best in teh business. http://www.coreplayer.com/
Mort player: tryed it.. didnt like it.. but its got big buttons.. plays mp3s and all.. I dont thnk it has a2dp support like the others do.. but I figured it was worht mentioning. http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?mo...ew&action=view

well thats about what I can think of. any one feel free to add to this list of ones that are worth it.

Re: Best MP3 Player for Large Library?

I recommend MortPlayer:

http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?mo...am&action=list

If you use bluetooth stereo headset, MortPlayer allows you to use the buttons on your bluetooth headset for controlling the player (next track, pause/play, etc). Also, MortPlayer remembers your track position so that when you restart it, it continues where it left off in the playlist. The screen is set up nicely with big buttons in "car mode". Excellent program.

I would also like to point out that pocketmusic plays internet radio stations like on Shoutcast. That is what i do while I am in the car.
