it's in very early beta stages but i been using it for a month now. basically mesh allows you to add any kind of device (ppc, laptop, desktop, etc) and allow them to stay synchronized.

for example, i put music in my desktop folder and a few minutes later its synchronized to my device. this is really good if you have friends with a ppc. everyone "shares" a directory and all devices synch up to all have the music.

there is a bunch of other stuff like remote desktop to any pc on your mesh, virtually... you also get 5GB~ to store whatever.

im not sure how long the waiting list is, but i got in a month ago.

i signed up, but what exactly is this useful for? it doesnt currently support mobile or anyhting other than pc, correct?

i sgned up as well. it looks like its good for your pc now but mobile is in the works. not having to install anything makes it a step better than dropbox BUT i know that i can access files thru dropbox on my phone. umm looking again, mesh does have a program to download. hmmmm. oh well no installing software at the office so a manual sync will have to do. same as dropbox.

I have been trying to log in as well ever since I saw their blog posting. Can't wait to try it out, but I'm getting a login error. Anyone have access to the .cab?

Edit: Actually, as I read the URL on the error page, I see "https://www.mesh.com/Web/Error.aspx&msg=ineligibleForPromo"! Nooo! How could that be? I've been a Mesh user since day one and I use it every day! Argh.

I was able to download the client and get it running but I'm getting an "Unable to validate the user on Live Mesh. Please check your connection settings and Retry, or Cancel to exit."

Ack. I get a message "Live Mesh was unable to find a suitable version of SQL CE on this device. Unable to install Live Mesh."

I'm running Nuerom 3 pre3. Where do I get the version of SQL that I need?

not sure about SQL CE... but MS said that everyone is experiencing the login validation error and that is being worked on right now.

Greetings. Sorry if this is a silly question, but what will the software app be able to do, that we can't already do through pie on our devices? I'm also getting the error when trying to sign in. Thanks dschoenike

Livemesh will allow you to include your device in your mesh. Auto-sync files and folders between all devices and "the cloud".

Example... my HTPC can record, compress, and move a tv show into a special folder that's in my Mesh. Livemesh then automatically syncs it with any or all other devices in my mesh, including my WinMo phone... no cables or activesync needed!

For anyone who is still getting errors... you need to install the updated client that was posted last night.

The client works pretty well but still doesn't "feel" rock solid.

Again, this is all beta software and I'm really impressed with MS and livemesh!

if you were having issues, redownload the livemesh.cab from microsoft site...they fixed (according to wmexperts.com): see below:

It also seems that Livemesh mobile has a 10 MB file size limit. My Diamond won't auto-sync any files over 10 MB that are in my mesh.

I hope they take that off soon!

Apparantly, there is also a limit on the number of mobile devices that MS is allowing to use Mesh during the Beta period. As I was attempting to sync my 700WX, I got a message saying, "Live Mesh for Windows Mobile Client is only avaialble for a limited number of users. You are currently not allowed to add your mobile phone to Live Mesh." So the question now is, why is this client being offered for d/l if it can't be used right now?

In case you didn't see it, you can now get Live Mesh for Windows Mobile at www.mesh.com - Microsoft's Live Mesh can syncronize all of your computers and mobile phones, up to 5 GBs of storage. This is kind of like MobileMe, but it is freeand it works. So you can now take a photo from your phone and have it instantly syncronize to your desktop OTA. You can also add files like .cab and .exe on your desktop and have them instantly sync to your phone over the air without activesync.

I have it set to back up my internal 4GB storage on my phone at all times.

i cant find the .cab for live mesh. i have to login thru a website on my phone. does anyone have a copy of this?

you need to be sure that you have a live mesh account before you can log into the service on your phone.

Sure would be awesome if the mac client was available as well. Then i could finally keep my pictures in sync between my sprint diamond phone, dell xps 1530 laptop, and my 20'' imac desktop :-)

When I select other devices (on my mac), it shows my operating system with a link to a .dmg file. Today's the first time I'm seeing this, so you might want to try it. :)

i dont know what im doing wrong. i am able to sign into mesh with my mobile browser (pie and opera) but i cant login using the installed program from the cab. I get the following error:
"Connection to Live Mesh failed
Unable to validate the user on Live Mesh. Please check your connection setting and Retry, or Cancel to Exit"
i tried loging in with the same user and pass with the web browser and i am positive that i typed the correct login and pass. Help??

I got mine working, but its only a sync right now. The main thing I use my mesh for is remote desktop... Anyone know if they plan on adding this feature to mobile devices?

I have a vogue on sprint with 19209 ROM (-mogul origin from ppckitchen.org)

Can anyone explain what the SQL CE is and if I can install a suitable version?

I was able to install, but can someone please explain how it works exactly. The app synced my mobile pictures to my online desktop, but my computer never sees my Tilt as being online. Secondly, what else can I sync?

I got the same error, and have SQL CE35 on my vogue.
