Re: Livemesh mobile client available!

those with sql errors here is fix

http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/e...f-f476d2a1876f

or i cut and pasted

3. EFFECTIVE - Install SQL CE 3.1 (AKA SQL Server 2005 Mobile) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
1. You need to install both the CORE package and the REPL package, and Soft Reset before attempting to install LiveMesh
2. After MSI is installed, the files can be found here for ARM devices:
1. x86 systems: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.1\SDK\bin\wce400\armv4
2. x64 systems: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.1\SDK\bin\wce400\armv4
3. Copy the 2 cab (not the dev one) files to your device and run them to install

http://m.mesh.com/install/wm6/LiveMesh.cab

Then log into my account on a pc..

then click on the icon on your mobile phone and allow it to sync up.

Live Mesh mobile after logging on: "Live Mesh for Windows Mobile Client is only available to a limited number of users. You are currently not allowed to add your mobile phone to Live Mesh."

Sucks.

The first one posted gave me an error about not having a suitable version of SQLCE. Downloaded the new one from the link and it installed, but It doesn't launch.

Not launching for me. The task bar on top says Live Mesh but the rest is a white screen for a few seconds, and quits.

This is kind of like MobileMe, but it is freeand it works. So you can now take a photo from your phone and have it instantly syncronize to your desktop OTA. You can also add files like .cab and .exe on your desktop and have them instantly sync to your phone over the air without activesync.

I have it set to back up my internal 4GB storage on my phone at all times.

Cool!

Mods, please move this to the Pocket PC Software thread.

Live Mesh should be combined with the Live Mail's Skydrive storage application ... maybe even integrate Office Live Workspace for business users who'd like to share documents with other Live users. What a pain in the a** it would be to only be able to sync 5GB of your data on Live Mesh and then only be able to upload files capped at 50MB on SkyDrive and then have to use Office Live Workspace to share documents. Hopefully, time will allow Office Workspace (document storage/sharing) and Live Mesh's major feature (multiple platforms synchronization >>> PC/Live Desktop/Mobile) to be absorbed into the SkyDrive feature. I realize few mobile users have the 25GB of storage to actually validate being able to sync that amount to a mobile storage card, but as mobile handsets grow more capable of handling higher bandwidth amounts and more advanced applications, dependency on PC/laptops will yield to mobile devices such as WinMo devices. M$ needs to streamline all of the Live applications, though. There are too many to keep up with. What are your thoughts?

It is in limited beta. Focus on the Live Mesh Developer's Blog for updates. I just downloaded it this morning. It works quite nicely. If you are being rejected from being able to activate it on your device, then the beta has reached a limit of entrants similarly to the way SkyFire began it's beta.

I dl'ed and tried to today. My first login attempt I got the "available only to a limited number of users." I proceeded to close the program, open it again, and it logged on fine. I am up and running. Pretty slick little application.

Damnit! I keep getting the limited number of users thing. They need to fix that.

Limited amount of users blah blah blah. Annoying, I want my mesh NOW.

Edit: Hahaha. I tried maybe 30 times to sign in before i posted this. After, first time I tried it worked. Silly Microsoft and their silly program.

Try it again today, they opened it up again. I was able to get on last night and it is working good!

Re: MS Mesh

I was super excited for this, but its kind of a let down. So many possibilities with this software, but its annoying as hell that the settings on the phone are so limited and all the program is, is pocket ie loaded to a live mesh page. There needs to be a TON more configuration options. I want to be able to use Resco file explorer instead of the standard one. I want to be able to browse the files on my live mesh without having to launch poclet IE and individually downloading them. I want to be able to copy folders from my computer over to my live mesh. Needs to be revamped. Its actually quite an awful user experience on the phone.

Re: MS Mesh

Keep getting the same thing. :(

Re: MS Mesh

I can only get the program to launch on one out of every 10 tries (even tried reinstalling) and when it does launch, it takes forever to even start to sync anything. I directory of a few hundred images took over an hour to start to sync, and maybe 50 of them have actually made it over to my phone from my computer.

This is a really neat idea, but this program is *very* *very* beta.

muyoso 12-13-2008 08:38 PM

Re: MS Mesh

Yea, i don't know how they could improve this enough to make it out of beta. Its so awful now.

Re: MS Mesh

I had the cab file but it always gave me the same limited beta issue thing, but right now I just downloaded it again from the developer team blog again to my PC then moved the cab file (as they instructed) to my mogul, installed and running pretty good right now.
Next I think will play with it a little to see if it's worth it.

Ok, is anyone still using this thing? If you are, can you still upload files from your phone to your online desktop?

Re: Live Mesh

I was able to upload files still when I uninstalled it last week. The program was way too buggy(beta obviously) to be used effectively and offers no real advantage of over Orb.

Yes. I use it about every week to share some cab files with some friends. Lately, I've been having trouble uploading a copy of my Sprite Phone backups.

I haven't used the mobile version for a while because it was really buggy and very very slow.

MoonZ- It allows you to upload files to a cloud, then access them from a PC or PPC. I uninstalled it because it took up too much memory on my 700WX and wasn't using it much. MS MyPhone is more what I'm looking for.

Hmmm, I'm using Pyski Rom 3.

I wonder if anyone with stock Roms have this problem. There are a lot of people on the Mesh mobile forum with the same issues but so far there hasnt been an updated release yet.

Apparently this is an issue if you run SPB Mobile Shell. Are you running SPB MS? I am, version 3.0.

No. I am just using Pyski's Rom and any tweaks that went with it.
It's too bad since I kind of liked it for my TP.

I love it for linking files from my laptop to my desktop...

Re: MS Mesh

So has anyone found another service that is comparable to Live Mesh? I really like the concept but cannot get it to work anymore.

I've been to their forum and MS cannot offer anything useful except to recommend submitting trouble tickets. People have stopped post there.
