SPB Clone or SPB Backup

Hi,

I have a Vogue and have it configured with an involved theme and numerous programs - I recognize Sprint will soon be pushing out the Rev A and GPS upgrade which will hard reset my device.

What is the easiest way to backup my device so I can quickly get back to my current setup?

Do you recommend SPB Clone, Backup or something else - please let me know if you have actually run such a re-install.

Thanks

Re: SPB Clone or SPB Backup

I use spb backup. It backups up everything but text messages and emails. I have the program set to save my backups to my storage card where I can run them if I have to hard reset my phone. You have the choice of what type of restore you would like to preform full or custom. I would recommend it.

Re: SPB Clone or SPB Backup

I have tried sprite back-up and it freezes up during back-up. i am running the nu2chem reva rom with only 38mb resources being used. spb mobile says it only works with OEM roms, so that wont work for me. any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Re: SPB Clone or SPB Backup

I use PIM backup, it is free, and backs up everything-contacts, messages, custom files, everything. There are some things you will have to re-setup (some programs to reinstall to get them on the installed programs list, but otherwise, the exe's to run them are in program files).

Re: SPB Clone or SPB Backup

I am not sure, but I think once the ROM gets upgraded you will not be able to revert back to an old set up. From past experience, when the ROM gets upgraded the installer will back up your settings for you. After that, you will not be able to use your old back ups.

Re: SPB Clone or SPB Backup

PIM backup should be fine for you. It can backup the files, contacts, calendar appointments, call logs, text logs etc etc.

Spb Backup, SpriteBackup work great for creating backups of your phone after you get it the way you want it, that way when you hard reset you don't have to go through the annoyance of re-installing things.

@ Crash, you can use the backups, its just you want to avoid trying a full restore. I still use old back ups, and I just avoid restoring the registry and other databases, and all works well.

@Original Poster, I recommend using Pim backup for prepping for ROM update.

Re: SPB Clone or SPB Backup

I've found spb backup and sktools to work well. But, as stated a few posts up, with a rom upgrade you can't do a complete system re-install.
