Still so glad I spotted this app a few months ago. If you need me to capture any logs or bounce development ideas off my cranium, feel free to ping me.
Thanks for the offer. I'll keep you in mind.

Does this happen all the time or did it happen just once? If it happens all the time, next time post the error message so that RCapi can know where to start looking.

Re: C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio for PocketPC (PPC)

out of all of the features and enhancements I could possibly ask for, my biggest gripe still is the fact that the app still seems to freeze. with starplayr, i never had any issue leaving the app while it was running in the background and coming back to it, or even just stopping the stream.

with your app, if i go to the today screen, the only way to get back to the app is through a task manager and 9 out of 10 times, it will take 30+ seconds to stop a stream. man times the app becomes unresponsive too. sometimes you can't even stop the stream.

also, when the app is unresponsive, but the stream active, sometimes it doesn't even show up in the task manager.

i've tried stopping a stream by killing the app and what will happen is the app will disappear from the task list and then the stream will eventually die, but as soon as it does, the app reappears in the task list!

I will do my best to fix this, but I don't seem to have these problems. Sure, once in a great while my player will pause, but it always comes back, and never to the point of having to reboot or kill the program. Not being able to reproduce the problem will make it harder for me to fix. I may have to do a special build for you if I can't figure this out.

i haven't written any code for WinMo but several things come to mind as to why i have these problems. first and foremost seems to be the way that the app authenticates with the service. once it has authenticated, it never tries again. there's obviously some timeout on their end to keep from streams eating up their bandwidth 24x7. i don't think the app does enough to deal with this.

second, there may be too much dependency on win media player to reliably play the stream and not enough communication back to the app as to the state of the stream. i know in vb you can access calls to imbedded windows functions like playing windows media content. is this similar to what you are doing?

lastly, i think the application should do a little more to check it's own state by making sure it's healthy, the stream is healthy and when things interrupt it like a phone call, to not freak out and crash. 9 times out of 10, if i change a channel after several hours of listening, the app will crash.

it's possible that all of my problems are because i run the application 9 hours a day. and if it crashes within those 9 hours, some memory leak somewhere is causing extra problems that other people aren't seeing.

R-Capi,
Would it be possible to modify the login screen to take less space, or at least move the captcha to the top? I have the save user information saved so i never need to enter that more than once. However every time I open the application I need to enter a captcha and my keyboard hides the captcha phrase. Sometimes I fat finger the keyboard or forget the captcha and I have to hide the keyboard to see it again. Basically the only way to login is to use a stylist. The finger friendly keyboards get in the way of the captcha.

Yes that is possible, and very easy to do. I will make that change.
