Re: C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio for PocketPC (PPC)

This happened to me recently, apparently you have to upgrade your account to listen to online broadcasts. Mine was working fine and then one day it stopped. It would log in and say "unable to load channels". $2.99 more a month and everything is working fine again.

Re: C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio for PocketPC (PPC)

I just installed it on my canadian touch dual (neon400) and 1st channel I tried was the virus and it works great.

BTW thanks R-Capi! this is the easiest way to get XM on a winmo device ever.

If you ever decide to stop development, please release the source, a couple of the other programs are useless since XM changed things.

Re: C-ApiSRO -recent problem

Hi all. I have had this awesome program working great, until my keyboard broke on my TP. Got a replacement and loaded the CAB, but now I cannot get it to work.

PLEASE HELP!! I AM WITHDRAWING BIGTIME.

It connects to the service fine, then when I choose a station, it says it is unable to load the station. I've tried to clear the cache, but when I re-login it does not load the channels at all.

Thanks for any help!

Something like this happened a few weeks ago on the XM side. I cleared the cache to get an updated channel listing for someone and it wouldn't reload the channels. Luckily I backed up the channels.xml file. A few days later the new channels loaded correctly again. Here is a copy of the Sirius us_Channels.xml file in zip form. It is dated 3/16/2009. Drop the xml file in program files\C-ApiSRO\Provider\Sirius. Hopefully this will get you going.

I posted this in the Xda thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...450259&page=26) regarding the NEWUI Xm app- but it applies here as well- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=254

O & A/ The Virus/ Channel 202 hasn't worked in about a week- at first it seemed to not stream at all- even through the website- (all other channels are fine throught the WinMo app) I think if someone could solve the problem in one of the apps, the solution could be applied to both of them.

"I've noticed since this past week it now streams through the website but takes close to 2 minutes to load/buffer-and still times out in the WM app; I'm assuming the XM app is just timing out too quickly (not that the app is too quick, but the xm stream is too slow) - is there any way to increase the amount of time the application waits for the stream to start?

By the way -this all started the same day that the IPhone xm/sirius app came out- I wonder if they changed something with the stream related to that- it worked perfectly before."

Just letting you know that I haven't forgotten about you guys. The problem appears to be between Windows Mobile Media Player 10 (WMP) and the Canadian stream that is handed to it. Unfortunately, I am not able to control how WMP processes the stream. I can see the stream being handed to WMP, but WMP never acknowledges. For some unknown reason WMP just won't play the audio. I do not have the code base for WMP, so I'm strapped when it comes to fixing it.

Because of this incompatibility this is going to be a big fix, which is why I haven't released anything yet. I will need to either build a proxy to modify the network stream, or incorporate the TCPMP player. I'd like to incorporate the TCPMP player, but that is going to take some more time, so please be a little more patient.

Sorry that isn't the news you were wanting to hear, but it's just where I'm at right now.

R-Capi,

I really appreciate the reply. Thanks for not forgetting about us. And I really wouldn't mind if tcpmp was incoporated, it's probably the better player anyway. THanks again for all the hard work!!

Yes! Although the Advanced Settings app requires Kinoma Play.

If you @Kinoma on Twitter (see below), every so often we post a nice coupon code there.

Also, have you considered using TrialPay to get Kinoma Play for free? We have lots of satisfied customers who've happily "purchased" Kinoma Play this way (including lots of PPCGeeks members). There's no harm scanning the offers, and you might find one that's a perfect fit for you.

does this app work on the higher res phones and does it have landscape support? if you're going to come out with a major release, might as well tackle everything else while you're at it.

I'll second that. The only time it stopped working was when my free XMRO subscription ran out. :???: I finally decided to cancel my portable radio & add the paid XMRO to my home radio subscription. My phone's always with me, the portable isn't. And the RO subscription is cheaper than using the portable. So, XM/Sirius just lost some monthly income.

Thanks so much great app!

If you go to Menu/Settings/XM or Sirius and clear the cache, your channel list should update the next time you start the program.

loaded the app and I can get xm to connect and play but when my back lighting goes out it stops streaming. If I up it from 30 seconds to a min it plays longer so they must be connected. Also sirius won't load at all it just says un able to load song, but if I log in online with my computer my user name and password work. Its a trial account, not sure if this has anything to do with it.
Also I am using a cooked 6.5 vanilla rom, not sure if that has anything to do with it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Hey C-Api, I like the C-ApiSRO app. Works like a champ on my Omnia. I noticed that the "Favorites" functionality is still in the works. If you'd allow, I'd be happy to work with you to build out this and other functionality. Let me know... and thanks again for the great app!

I'd be more than happy simply to have my last used channel ready for instant play. I pretty much stick to one channel and when I lose the connection or restart the next day I'd love to simply log on and connect to my last used channel without having to scroll and find it.

dmagalhaes, this can be a bit tricky, it depends on how your phone is set up. Power settings and such, 3rd party screen protectors etc. I found that if you are using TCPMP to stream the best way to avoid this is to configure one of your buttons to turn off the screen with a hotkey. In TCPMP go to Options/settings/select page/hot keys, scroll to the bottom and you will find screen on/off. Set it to a button that you would like to use to turn the screen off while using tcpmp(i use the action button). This will blank the screen but keep the player running in the background. If you are using wmplayer then you will have to look at other settings in your phone. Hope this helps!

I too appreciate the fact that you are still looking into this. I had been making due with SiriusWM5 through TCPMP but I just updated to the latest NFSFAN Rom last night and now I can't get that to work either. I'm stuck listening to CBC Radio in my office. I need my Stern back.

@Dmagalhaes: I'm currently running Blazingwolf's 6.5 ROM and used Adrynalyne's 6.5 previously, both CC02 and CF03, and have no problems w/ this program. Try going into settings in the program and check turn off back light... and have 30 sec. That's what mine is set at and I rarely if ever have a problem.

Re: C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio for PocketPC (PPC)

I have really enjoyed playing with this software, thank you. however, i find that in practice, it does not work for me. I like to run for 30 or 40 minutes each morning. I guess I run in and out of "better" internet coverage, because when I run I lose the sound for sometimes a few minutes at a clip. (Even with EV). When I'm stationary it seems to work flawlessly.

i have a suggestion, if possible. Can the program be made to download and buffer the stream? Maybe have an optino to download 5 or 10 minutes worth ahead of the streaming, so that it has the ability to seem like it's not missing a beat? Alternately, it would be nice if the program could wake up at a preset time, download and capture an hours' worth of programming, and then save it for offline listening. I don't care if I hear Howard Stern on a 5 or 10 minute delay - or even an hour later, it's better than 5 minute gaps during.

Pete

I'm sure they could do that easily enough, but then your audio wouldn't start for 5 to 10 mins. The stream is real time, you can only read it in real time, you can't read ahead. You buffer is equal to the time it takes to start the stream (more or less)

Re: C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio for PocketPC (PPC)

I am running a Touch Pro with MightyRom 6. Captcha doesn't show up in Landscape. No big deal, I am just happy to have something that works. With as crappy as the satellites are sounding these days, I may as well just drop to internet only and save myself a few bucks. Hits 1 on CDMA sounds about the same and maybe a little better than the birds, on WiFi your app slaughters the satellite service. Thanks Much to all involved. I guess Sirius thought it be safe to release an official App for Iphone because most Iphone users won't notice the Audio quality difference.

Even Better, it's not toasting my battery. Sirius WM5 on my 6800 with stock roms drained my battery in about 30 minutes; thanks again to all involved.
