alright caddie try this.
I found a better way after I wrote the tutorial.
When you have the original up. Select all. Then use the fuzzy select tool remove the parts of the pic you dont want to copy. Then copy whats left over to the tranparent background.

Either that or the images you are starting with are too small. I have that problem sometimes I cant get a clean line around the image it looks all messed up. OHHH and try and turn down the threshold on the fuzzy select tool.

Ill take a look at the marlins one. Right Now.

But First heres the Padres Icon Set.
