Today, my battery went under 10% by 11:00am (took it off the charger at 06:00am). Normally I can go all day and it will only drop to 60 to 70%. The only thing that changed was my updating Skyfire.

Not sure if it was co-incidental or not. This is the first time that I've had my Treo (over a month) that my battery died that quickly without anything running.

I'll have to keep an eye on Skyfire.

Re: Skyfire Support

Updating to the new Skyfire itself will not cause a drop in battery performance unless Skyfire was running in the background. But since you said that it wasn't running in task manager then something else must be the culprit.

Make sure that you actually exit out of Skyfire using the menu under the right soft key.

Coz

That's what was strange. When I saw the battery running low, I checked task manager and nothing was running. I had a strong phone signal so I don't think searching for a signal was the culprit.

Maybe just a fluke. My Centro would do that once every few months but I found that the cause was usually some unknown network activity going on.

Re: Skyfire Support

Maybe it was really still running and the task manager just didn't show it. I have a program called "Task Manager" that is different than the one that came with win mobile and sometimes it'll show applications running that the win mobile task manager doesn't.

There may be some truth to that. One thing I've noticed is that when I use the exit Skyfire option, I'll check the task manager and it doesn't show anything running.

Skyfire is the only program that I've seen do that. Usually when I close something out, I still have to kill it in the task manager.

I'll do a search for other task manager programs and see if Skyfire still shows up.

Re: Skyfire Support

What other programs/apps/software do you have installed that uses data (e.g., PocketSportsCenter, WeatherPanel, etc.)?

Weatherpanel (updates every 15 minutes) - never had a problem with it though.

I have 4 email accounts set up to check every 30 minutes (Pocket Outlook.)

I believe those are the only things that auto-connect periodically and I've had that setup for weeks without any issues.

I also use Opera 9.5 beta and Opera mini every once in awhile but always make sure everything is killed in the task manager when I'm done.

I'll see if the battery drain continues. Hopefully it was just a "bizarre" quirk.

Also, I have a different battery in the phone now (one of my old Centro batteries) and have the original 800w battery on a charger. I'll swap out later, maybe the battery decided to crap out.

.

How did you get it to update that often?? The shortest update interval in mine is 30 minutes.

In my programs menu, there is something called "WP Configure Hourly Fix", when you open it up it gives you the following options for updates:

Every minute
Every 2 minutes
Every 15 minutes (which I believe is the default setting)
Never - I'll run it manually (run now)

I can't remember if this was a separate download or not, I'm thinking it may have been.
