Re: Official Release: SPB Mobile Shell 2.0

I've not used either Mobile Shell or Pocket Plus. There appears to be some overlap on the two applications. I have watched the videos, and read Malatesta's review of Shell 2.0. Anyone care to share the primary differences, or is it necessary to have both? Thanks.

Bill

Having both really all depends on your own preference. Shell haas the Now screen, and now the contact screen, and a more detailed menu/app launcher.

Pocket Plus allows you to have more tabs (smaller though), it comes with finger scrolling for menues and PIE, and you have the ability to add more than one plug in per tab (this one I REALLY like).

There are other differences, but that is a QUICK recap. You can use both together, I did for a while, but I use Shell alone now for the memory it saves only having one.

I hope this helps some, I am sure you will get a lot more detailed responces as well!!!

I'm afraid of the s2u2... I just want the shell to work while the screen is locked. On 1.5 if I got a text/e-mail I could tap the icon and it would prompt me for the password. Once I put the password in it would open whatever I tapped. Now I have to unlock the device, and click "Notification" like I'm some kind of animal. I may as well have manual windows & no power locks on my car.

How do you backup your settings in Mobile Shell 2.0 that way, say you reflash, you don't have to spend an hour putting everything back the way you like.

Re: Official Release: SPB Mobile Shell 2.0

The only way to backup your settings is with Sprite or SPB backup. These will back up your whole device. But it isn't a good idea to use this after you flash to a new ROM.

I'm actually getting better memory usage with 2.0 installed. About 3 more mb right after my first soft reset.

Re: Official Release: SPB Mobile Shell 2.0

I might buy this program... I really dig it... Its just a matter of using it for a few days to see how stable it ends up being... not so stable on no2chem's 5050 but its very stable on NexVision's ROM.

The transitions are amazingly smooth. I didn't expect it to be smooth at all.

Re: Official Release: SPB Mobile Shell 2.0

Another way to back up your settings is to use a registry editor like SKTools to save the whole HKLM\Software\Spb Software2\ key structure to a .reg file, then import it after flashing.

Re: Official Release: SPB Mobile Shell 2.0

I purchased this program yesterday and it is positivley AWESOME! I can't think of anything negative to say about this program. I was using Pointui since the first of the year and it is free (www.pointui.com) SPB is well worth the fee.
