Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
I personally like fring the best. It covers all including the rare Skype.
First, I'm cheap, so I stick with the free ones. Secondly I hate ugly UI's so that takes out Slick and IMOV. Octro is cool, but it adds unnecesary crap on my PC Google Talk contacts. Palringo is cool, but it limits you to one open IM chat window. fring Free www.fring.com Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM OctroTalk Free http://www.octrotalk.com/ Google Talk/Jabber, MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo Palringo Free http://www.palringo.com/ Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, Aim, Gadu-Gadu AOL ICQ Google Talk, Jabber Slick Free http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=slick ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google Talk, Jabber IMOV Messenger Free http://www.movsoftware.com/products/imov/imov.htm Google Talk, AOL, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
Ive used IM+ but recently its become buggy again, and the auto reconnect isnt all that great....Ive been using Slick as of late and I really like it, just wish it had a today screen plugin....Im gonna go check out that fring one too
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
just tryed fring.....its crap
Im sticking with slick for now, and im+ |
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
im on palringo its awsome app i recomend alot
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
I agree with the comment about IM+ becoming more buggy and unstable but it remains my IM program of choice. Slick is nice, but the user interface is a bit of a turn off.
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
im actually starting to like slick myself, but someone here has to make a today screen plugin :-o
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
i recommend slick IM
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
after trying a few programs including (fring) i'll stick with SLICK. hand down is the best one of all, love the interface and easy use, is free and it has a build in update for new versions available. no need to unistall and install.

SLICK FTW!!! |

IM+ is like $30
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
After installing Slick, when I try to enter my account info. in the text boxes it just locks up my Touch, I'm trying Palringo now and I like it so far.

Re: What's your FAVORITE Instant Messenger for the 6800/Mogul/Titan...?
Dont you think Agile Messenger is due for an update?
|
Re: What's your FAVORITE Instant Messenger for the 6800/Mogul/Titan...?
how does agile work?... i'm tryin slick, and its updates have been pretty nice... it kinda drains the battery, though...
|
Re: What's your FAVORITE Instant Messenger for the 6800/Mogul/Titan...?
i use slick myself. since updating the new version it doesnt seem to disconnect as often. it is nice having aol, yahoo and msn all in one application.
|
Re: What's your FAVORITE Instant Messenger for the 6800/Mogul/Titan...?
I have tried all IM and I like Agile Messenger interface. Go google it. But the software is expensive!
|
Re: What's your FAVORITE Instant Messenger for the 6800/Mogul/Titan...?
The best hands down is Jivetalk. Just installed the alpha version yesterday. It doesnt have the ability to change any preferences at all, and it still KILLS all of the other programs out there. It ALWAYS stays connected, like OZ, and is pretty awesome looking to boot. It does kinda rape the battery though.
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
Use jive talk....its a new program and is by far the best....u can see buddy icons, away message, beautiful interface, i phone like scrolling u cant go wrong with this one.heres the link to the website where u can download it.
http://www.beejive.com/ |
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
Jive talk is the best, by FAR. Never disconnects, AWESOME interface. Its in alpha right now, so you cant access preferences, and the battery usage is a bit large, but its still MILES better than Slick, IM+ and Octro, all of which I used to use.
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
I gave the Jive Talk app a whirl and its pretty good...besides the battery sucking that it does lol
The next version of it will hopefully be a keeper:) |
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
Octro and Jive are the only apps that state that they use encryption.
All the others are out. |
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
I use Palringo and Webmessenger. Webmessenger is now free!
http://www.webmessenger.com I would try slick, but it's only free during the beta. |
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
What do you guys think about OZ Instant Messaging aka Touch or WinMobile Pro 6 stock Instant Messaging program ?

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
i have to give slick another nod...it's been very good for me

I went through all of them, Jivetalk is my fav
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
at the end of the day, i always go back to agile. I do use octro because it has the custom away messages... but its connection is way too fickle. The aim craps out on me regularly. Agile does everything I want it to do except for the custom away messages.
Agile has so many features though, the walkie-talkie-esque push to talk and the picture sending, not to mention the smooth user interface. On top of that the vibration alerts work perfectly and it wakes up the phone as well. Slick is a nice app, but you need to use something to trigger your web connection... (agile works so nicely that I use slick as a secondary IM) The new mymobile AOL is nice in that it keeps you logged in even though you close the program, so you're not wasting battery. However thats only very effective if you have a customized away message available. At the end of the day the only problem with agile is the cost... I paid that back in the day before I could find another free im app. But I've had friends who did the free trial... and it expired, yet without paying somehow theyre still able to use the software, go figure. |
