Re: Another New WM Browser Released: Torch Mobile (Webkit Based)
Hmmm... you know... you guys are bashing on this browser... but its still in its early stages... and I can tell you that while its a touch slow and I'm not a fan of the zoom or no automatic text alignment so you don't have to scroll 50 billion times....... it at least managed to load Engadget.com in FULL, no image loss unlike Opera 9.5, and to boot, once the page is loaded, it seems a lot more fluid in action than Opera 9.5 too.
Lets not forget that its WebKit... WK is an EXTREMELY powerful browsing engine - its just going to take awhile before it has been streamlined to perform well on our devices.

Re: Another New WM Browser Released: Torch Mobile (Webkit Based)
At this very point I've to agree with the majority in here. It's very slow. However I do see this browser turn to a great or possibly the best browser as more development go on to it. It's still in an early stage so can't expect too much from it yet. For now Opera 9.5 remain my top browser and skyfire is mainly for flash (youtube). That's my two cents

Re: Another New WM Browser Released: Torch Mobile (Webkit Based)
Nice rendering, but right now too slow for me. I'll stick with opera mini and try opera mobile when the official beta comes ou.t. I'll keep an eye on this one though.

Re: Another New WM Browser Released: Torch Mobile (Webkit Based)
Torch Mobile has made significant improvements to their Iris Browser over the past few months. Version 1.0.13 was good enough to make Iris my fave runner-up to the Diamond leaked version of Opera Mobile. And now Iris v1.0.15 (AKA beta 2) is another step up. Beta 3 is for Diamond and Pro, so I still have beta 2 on my Sprint Touch. And, Opera is still #1, but Iris works better for a few of the WAP, mobile, and /m type sites that I frequent. No longer need pIE for anything at all! And Skyfire, Opera Mini, and any of that type where all you get is a pic of the page their server got, well, they're not for me, but for phones without sufficient RAM to support a direct browser.

Re: Another New WM Browser Released: Torch Mobile (Webkit Based)
This browser is actually pretty excellent now. Sure, not as fast as opera mini or skyfire, but that's because those aren't actually loading the pages- their servers are doing to the work for you.
This is a REAL cleint-side browser, and that being said its quite good. I'm not sure why people think this is so much worse than opera mobile- it seems to require a smaller footprint than Opera Mobile, and the little transitions are cute and surprisngly smooth on a device with limited resources such as the Titan. Their older beta was may have been crap, but this is not too shabby. I might start using this more as my primary browser...

who cares about fennec Iris is were its at
Ive been testing the latest release of Iris browser at www.torchmobile.com
and I must say I have found my new favorite, even opera mobile goes to the wayside. Its really fast, and renders full webpages. I went to youtube.com to do most of my testing. Honestly I highly doubt I will even care about the fennec release unless I hear something truely amazing about it.
