mini usb port as an input port

i was wondering if you could connect stuff to a ppc through its mini usb port. like if you wanted to connect a thumb drive to it you would just need a cord that would link a regular usb to a mini usb port and the ppc would see it. you might need a program though. please tell me yalls thoughtps yes im from texas
