Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

I see. I can't get it to work. I have a network setup with 4 PCs and 1 external IP address and 4 internal. The one I want to connect to has the remote desktop option enabled. I put internal IP in computer address, user name (I have 2 user name on the computer I want to connect to so I use one of them). Password is no password and in the domain I put in my external IP address and it doesn't seem to work. Do I need to set anything else up?

Right now you are connecting internal IP-> Internal IP?

if so 2 things..

1) is port open on windows firewall?

2) I suggest using an account with a password..

Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

I have windows firewall turned off on my PC.
Because I enabled 3389 both UDP/TCP int/ext to 3389 in the router.

What do you mean internal IP to Internal IP? I am connecting my phone and not another PC lol.

I thought you were testing it from another pc that was on the local network..

You are using your public IP to connect right?

Also..you might have to setup port forwarding for port 3389 on the router to your local IP (starts with 192.168.x.x)

Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

Port forwarding is set up specifically on the IP that I want to connect to. My connect is probably dynamic, does it have to be static to be able to connect?

Well for initial connection it doesn't matter..just make sure you got the current IP..beyond that there are services like:

DynDNS.com Dynamic DNS: Free DDNS Service

IF you have another computer at home, I would first attempt to Remote Desktop using it to make sure its working..you "might" need to update your Remote Desktop on your phone for example..so if you got another PC, test using it...

Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

So I got it to work while connected to wifi. My phone viewed my desktop and I was happy. The problem is I want to do it while it is not in wifi but when I am out of town and need to use the phone network to connect. Is that possible?

ok, if that works then thats good..if you can't connect outside make sure your firewall is configured properly and you have a proper public IP..

Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

I have a proper public IP address and firewall is off. I tried putting internal IP in the "computer" field and then input the correct user name and password for that internal IP of course and then in domain I put my public IP.

Also tried public IP in computer and still did not work.

Are you getting it over 3g? Or only through wifi and/or active sync?

By the way I have a dynamic and not a static address based on what the administrator has told me.
