so does opera mobile 9.5, 9.7 and opera mini but its only to a set zoom level. some pages the set zoom level may be a little to cllose or it may not be zoomed in enough and you need to zoom in a little more that's when you need the zoombar or in this case pinch to zoom. Even though it won't work on Opera Mobile 10.
But anyways I'm not forcing you to try it. If you don't wanna try it get the hell out of this thread lol... This is for people that wanna try then give there opinion AFTER trying.

I mean, all the device sees is you pressing the screen in the center of those two points. To be honest, I have never had a page zoom in too far or not far enough away. The device can't tell the difference between your "pinch to zoom" and "toilet paper scrolling" anyway. Personally, like using the wheel sometimes, but Opera Mobile 10 does a pretty dang good job of guessing where you want to zoom in. 9.5 never did, but 10 is good. I just don't like wasting time/keystrokes, but if you want to, go ahead, I'm not stoppin' you. ☺

Re: Multitouch for singletouch screens! (TouchPro 1/2?)

this driver isn't just guessing where your finger is or ignoring the first press.

for example...

pretend theres points 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 on the resistive touch screen. as u swipe and tap you go through those points one by one. when using "multitouch" it recognizes the instantaneous jump from one to the other when you put your second finger down. this instantaneous jump is what registers the zoom in and out feature which monitors the number compared to the inital number. For example it would register 1 to 5 instead of the usual seeing 12345 as a swipe.

To this however there are some disadvantages...
1. You cant move the first finger after you place the other finger down.
2. If you put both fingers down too close or at the same time it won't activate the zoom feature

Thats how the driver works... ive looked into it for a while but never devoted as much time to it as these people have. It's come along way and is really really useful! thx to all those involved! Matt

Yep I know how resistive screens work. If you were to touch several spots at once with equal pressure, the thing would register a single poke in the center of both. I normally use my Diamond single handedly even for web, but someone else might find it useful.

Re: Multitouch for singletouch screens! (TouchPro 1/2?)

The issues between capacitive and resistive have and will continue to create heated discussions. The joys of Resistive is I don't have to take my gloves off in the cold to make it work (sorry iPhone!). But the Capacitive recognizes multitouch.

Would I use Multitouch on my Imagio? Only if there was a usefull program for it. But just like some of the things on my phone, they are cool, but I rarely use them.

But the fact that the 'non-professionals' here on these types of sites are able to come up and do what the 'professionals say can't be done, is a testement to the brilliance working these forums.

I say lets let these great folks do this, and then lets piss on the apple folks when we show them that yes, we do multitouch.....with our gloves on!

Remember, what works for you is absoultely worthless and a waste to another!

So true. Couldn't have said it better myself. For instance, I don't see any point in wasting time moving an extra hand onto an already perfectly capable screen to make zooming take longer, but someone else who used a capacitive screen with this limitation might find him or herself not used to the features a resistive screen has to offer. Like that other person said, you can use it with gloves, and while I may never use my resistive screen with gloves, I do like to sometimes rest my thumb on the screen while waiting for a page to load or something. Unless you have really heavy thumbs or a way overly sensitive screen, a resistive screen wouldn't register a tap. It is really all personal taste, like Jason said. ☺

That would be funny! Imagine your iPhone friend showing off, then you say to them, "I can do the same, just my phone doesn't like it." And then you do! That would be a riot! OK Multitouch folks, heres your first fun app!
