Sprint TV - Updated 11/3 - ONLY WORKS ON SPRINT TOUCH NOW

Edit by Wideawake: I was contacted by the Vice-President of Mobitv Inc. and was threatened with legal actions if their application was not removed from our servers due to "violation and infringement of MobiTV’s intellectual property rights". Thanks for understanding.

UPDATE: 11/24/2007 - SPRINT TV HAS BEEN LOCKED DOWN ON THE NETWORK END TO ONLY FUNCTION ON THE TOUCH (AS WELL AS THE NEW MOTO Q AND PALM CENTRO). THERE IS NO SOLUTION NOR WORKAROUND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE OF THE ALLOWED DEVICES.

I got a .cab file from a friend and installed it on my mogul. Its sprintTV. Ive used MobiTV but never SprintTV, is there a trial version of sprint TV?. It seems kind of limited in channels but I get the NFL network so im happy.

My question, anyone know of any fix for low speaker output for mobiTV or SprintTV.

Edit by Pibe38: I am attaching a modified file that now allows the app to be uninstalled from Remove Programs. Thanks to XDA for creating this app, you can find a link to that thread on the subsequent pages of this thread.

Just download the ZIP file, extract the CAB, and install it. It is the same app as originally posted with the exception that it can now be uninstalled from Remove Programs.

mmamizuka 10-20-2007 12:59 AM

cab file please

Pibe38 10-20-2007 01:44 AM

Uhmm yeah... could please post the CAB file? I don'tm think a CAB file for SprintTV had surfaced before.

wILLk0r3 818 10-20-2007 03:38 AM

Ah yes of course, here it is. Also im new to the PPC world, so don't ask how it works .

EDIT by Pibe38: If you download this file, you will need to rename it and change the extension from .ZIP to .CAB

Do not attempt to extract this as a ZIP file as it will not work.

wickedklown 10-20-2007 04:07 AM

I added the ".zip". After you download it rename it (remove the .zip)

almighty 10-20-2007 04:13 AM

verification if this works? i might get risky and install it first...
but not sure if i wanna i have "unlimited" mobitv

xmentalx 10-20-2007 04:18 AM

well from the xml file within the cab it does look like sprint tv, ill install it now and report back shortly

jaytv 10-20-2007 04:26 AM

Works perfectly. Thanks so much!

xmentalx 10-20-2007 04:30 AM

very much so, id like to know where the heck you got this, THANKS!

wickedklown 10-20-2007 04:38 AM

My friend said he got it off the net, but i spent hours googling this file but could not find it. Oh well long as it dont turn our phones pink i guess.

Btw my question still stands... my sound output is really low. Any known tweaks/fixes? The sound work for you guys?

almighty 10-20-2007 04:40 AM

ok well i couldnt get the cab to work and im not completely familiar with cab composition... but heres what i got 12 files 11 with a date of 10/11/07 one with 8/13/05
i will spare the setup file cause you can download it yourself and check... but i cant get this to run for some reason

xmentalx 10-20-2007 04:41 AM

its the poor audio quality i cant think of any way to improve it

jaytv 10-20-2007 04:41 AM

Remove the .zip from the end of the file name. Transfer. Run on Mogul. Run. Enjoy.

almighty 10-20-2007 04:45 AM

epic posting this might endup being the greatest thing a noob poster has ever given a forum :P

xmentalx 10-20-2007 04:48 AM

How do you remove the ".zip" from the file. I am using Vista and not able to remove the ".zip" from the properties.

omegax 10-20-2007 07:04 AM

ok dude..

go to the file highlight it (single click)
then single click the files text
it turns blue
highlight the ".zip" at the end of the file
reach over and hit the delete key on your keyboard
press enter

Dude, that was so funny I almost peed myself...

So far, a pretty impressive little app...

Since changing extensions can be tricky, I'm attaching a ZIP file that has the CAB file inside. So just extract it... never liked the whole renaming myself.

Also, the renaming can be tricky... I tried changing the name and it would not let me change the extension from the Desktop. I had to go to the DOS command line to change it there... good thing I still remember DOS commands :headbang:

I'm also going to move this to the software forum so users with different devices can take advantage of this.

Edit by Pibe38: If downloading this file, there is no need to change extensions, just extract (open) the ZIP file and you will find the CAB file inside.

jaytv 10-20-2007 08:03 AM

I'm using Vista, and it couldn't have been simpler to rename the file, but thanks for zipping it up for easy use!
I am really liking the interface so far, and the standard free channels are pretty impressive.

Striker911 10-20-2007 08:48 AM

is this also unlimited or any tricks we have to do to keep it going with out the trial running out

lawsofpower48 10-20-2007 08:50 AM

it doesnt work for 6700 :( ...it loads then the program shuts off itself....anyone have the same prob?

machtenx 10-20-2007 09:24 AM

Does this cause you to incur monthly fees?

I had the authenticate user problem but just restarted it a few times and it worked after that. This is on the Alltel Rom on my Sprint Mogul

ghostyroasty 10-20-2007 09:32 AM

Also wondering if this would cause us to incur monthly fees... I have the $15 sprint plan on the mogul

jamesus 10-20-2007 09:43 AM

Nice find dude...off to install!

There is a volume registry setting for the sprint tv set at 60, but i can't tell much of a difference over 100.

JeffdaBeat 10-20-2007 10:36 AM

This Sprint TV design looks far different from any of the ones on the cell phones. Maybe this was an unauthorized release of the ones coming for the PDA?

2kmy477 10-20-2007 11:01 AM

It works on my Mogul but the video wasn't smooth(kind of like slow motion) and it only plays in landscape mode, does anyone have the video issue?

tannis 10-20-2007 11:06 AM

Touch

The new sprint touch is supposed to have sprinttv I bet thats where this came from... In the meantime I'm as happy as a puppy with two peeders!

I feel the need to clarify what I was trying to convey in my first message. I had done the initial general name change u but in the properties under the details section the name was still .cab.zip and when i transferred through mobile device center the file was unrecognizable by my 6800.

do you have hide extensions for known file types unchecked under folder options-View?

vash730 10-20-2007 11:56 AM

for the volume if you wait until you're watching a video and slide out the keyboard and press the right key you can raise the volume a little bit, it's still not loud but it's a little better. as someone said up there i think the volume slider just defaults to 60% and pressing right or left adjusts it up and down.
