Battery tweaks

Has any one ofund any reg tweaks as far as battery life goes? I know when I had my MOTO Q there were some and they helped tremendously. I have an extended battery and hope each day my sprint mogul will last till i can get home lol. I am a fireman and no one ever knows what time that will be!!!

Thanks
WOODY

This has done wonders for my battery life. Before I needed to charge 2-3 times a day, now I can go 24+ hours with moderate use. Original post on sprintusers.com: http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127164

And make sure to turn your screen off, the backlight is another killer.

see: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...6&postcount=10 for an excellent explanation of what these do. I use wifi, evdo, phone, bluetooth and direct push and have had no ill effects because of these changes.

Sounds great, but can you or anyone tell me what eaach of those are for.. i would hate to turn off something that I have been relying on and be wondering why it doesnt work now.

THanks

Greetings,

I dont think this is a reg hack or anything, but I did notice a HUGE increase in battery life after uncheckin [] receive all incoming beams. Even with those hacks mentioned above I couldnt get 2 days off the battery.

Disabling the beams have given me up to 3, almost 4 days with normal phone use and little Internet browsing as well.

Hope this helps.

bingcrosby 09-19-2007 02:14 AM

definitely turn off beams, bluetooth, wifi and direct push if you are not using them, they will chew up your battery.

I just applied these tweaks to my 6800. I'll let you guys know if I notice any difference in battery life.

jamesus 09-19-2007 12:39 PM

bennett 09-20-2007 03:19 AM

i did all the reg tweaks, made sure beam, wifi, push, and bluetooth were off.went my usual 10 hours of messing around(text, email, phone calls, more text)and by the time i got home, the battery only went down to 80%.usually its down to about 60% or so,also wanted to mention that i'm using the siedio 1650mah battery.so i'm gonna say that the reg edits worked for me and the phone has been acting normal.

jamesus 09-20-2007 01:21 PM

28 hours of moderate use (and a few of me sleeping) and I am at 30%. Also, using Seido extended OEM battery. So far so good.

mdcnman6 09-20-2007 02:16 PM

i too just tried the tweak,i'll be looking to see if any of my apps were affected and to see if there's any change with battery life

djintensify 09-20-2007 04:29 PM

applied the tweaks yesterday. so far it seems like its working. by around this time 1:30pm my battery would be at 30-40% with using txt, email, aim, internet explorer, and phone calls. right now its at 70%. im using the battery it came with and i still have bluetooth on

jamesus 09-20-2007 04:34 PM

I just hit 10%...so on the first day, I was able to have the phone not charged for roughly 32 hours of moderate to high use...

tc32brat 09-20-2007 06:46 PM

anyone know if that would work on the treo 700wx???? if anyone know how to do it for the treo please pm me..... thanks in advance if you can help.

jamesus 09-20-2007 06:51 PM

Give it a shot and let us know if you see any improvement!

amar0315 09-20-2007 06:56 PM

awesome....my usually still has enough batt by the time i get home....thats with bluetooth stereo headset and media player going, internet browsing....because of disabling the incoming beam really helped...but i will see how this works as well

scottymomo 09-20-2007 07:06 PM

Just did them on my 750, will see how it goes...

germster 09-20-2007 11:41 PM

ceh478133 09-20-2007 11:49 PM

with the hacks i went all day a whole 24 hour period with the regular 1350 mah battery and it onlty got down to 40% and thats with regular use of phone with bluetooth and a lil web surfing.....without the hacks i would have to charge my xv 6700 a couple of times or have an extra battery on hand...but the hacks do work on my end at least...im running the new rom too btw..

kcaegis45 09-21-2007 11:33 AM

I can't find anything about "direct push". Where would I find it? I've checked everything and I can't find it. This site is great. thanks for any help given.

CozBoogie 09-21-2007 11:39 AM

Applied these changes to my 700wx. After about 18 hours I was down to about 69%. So I would clearly state that these tweaks do make a difference.

I did notice that when I turned on my BT headset after making these changes that my 700wx asked me if I wanted to accept this connection, blah, blah, blah...and had me enter a password.

Anyways...good work on finding these tweaks.

late,
Coz

kcaegis45 09-21-2007 02:48 PM

I think I found it. It has something to do with EMAILS. I haven't programmed the EMIAL stuff yet so it should not be an issue until I do. And I disable it when I do. Thanks anyway...

Direct Push is toggled on and off in your comm manager. it's only used for MS Exchange server and Outlook. Absolutely not necessary even if you do have outlook set-up and it eats a ton of battery since it's always checking the server for new messages.

Have not had any issues with my BT devices after these hacks, so it could be something else causing that reconnect confirmation.

RichieRich777 09-23-2007 02:10 AM

I did these tweaks a few days ago & have seen no difference in my battery life...

WanderingMinstrel 09-23-2007 03:24 PM

Slightly better battery mileage for me. But two days later when I turned on my BT for the first time since the hack, I found that it had disabled my connectivity. The icon on the control panel had an X through it and there was no blue blinking light. (No other hacks, additions, or changes in between.) When I restored all the registry entries back to 1 values, my BT came on immediately. FYI, I'm still using stock rom on my 6700.

jtrag 09-23-2007 10:29 PM

I'd say these tweaks improved my battery life by about 25% or more but not much more. It definitely helps... I've went several days with these tweaks enabled and disabled. I also noticed it depends on how your service is in the area you're in. If you have poor service, these settings seem to kill your battery faster. I've studied these settings for days before comming to this conclusion. If anyone has any questions, please ask.

Anyone else have the EVDO connection stop after using these? I see every once an a while that my data connection arrows are white and programs will not connect (WP, PIE, etc). Tried using the Comm Manager to disconnect, to no avail. Only fix is a soft reset.

Anyone else?

I didn't notice this with my Mogul although I don't have EVDO here. It's only 1x so maybe it only does that with EVDO connections.

jamesus 09-26-2007 04:16 PM

Funny thing...as soon as I posted that, I haven't had any problems...go figure...

well tryed this and lets see if it really werks

MogulUser2 10-01-2007 11:25 PM

I think the problems with the tweaks only happen if you are out of range of a cell tower for an extened period... I notice I always had the problem you are describing after riding the subway... Saved power, but very annoying... I ended up changing it back...

MogulUser2 10-08-2007 10:01 PM

i orginally asked before, never got an answer........ARE THESE BATTERY TWEAKS FOR THE MOGUL 6800? i put them on and have no difference. ive been reading all other posts on here, some people say they go 24hrs with 70percent left or so, others even better--i drop from 100 to 60 in 3 hours and thats just the phone sitting still!! theres a full charge at 8am, by 11am its down to 60, by 4pm its at 30 percent with little usage, and i have to put it on the car charger. i charge it long enough to reach 80%, then with only one phone call, a few emails sent, its down to 40%. wtf? are all pda's this way?
maybe these tweeks arnt for mogul?

EtherealRemnant 10-09-2007 12:46 AM

They ARE for Mogul... if you're getting that poor battery life, call Sprint and make them replace the battery under warranty.

MogulUser2 10-09-2007 10:24 AM

yea remnant, I did that already. I went to store where I got it and they gave me brand new battery and theres no difference. im on phone now adding this reply and when I opened up browser to get on here phone was at 90 perc....now its at 70 and I've just been on here. this is really terrible. I might swap this for the new razor 2 because the batt in that lasts all day with heavy usage---my girlfriend has it, talks all day, and still has a full charge by evening. sure it can't do what this does, but oh well. I think this type of phone is meant for office type people who are inside all day and constantly have phone plugged in. im not going to be tied to a car charger all day, shouldn't have to. this is however my first pda phone and if this is how all pda's are, then screw that---might as well get a laptop.

jamesus 10-09-2007 10:35 AM

Can you tell us more on your set up and how you entered the registry entries? Are you using push email? Are you streaming media? This might help us find out why this is happening. I am using these on my Mogul and have had great battery life.

Also, almost all PDA phones have lower battery life that that or a "normal" cell phone.

MogulUser2 10-09-2007 11:19 AM

as far as registry entries, I did the battery hack and that's about it. push email? do you mean the envelope button on the top left on the phone? I push that and my messaging center opens and I choose which email or text message acct to use. I don't what or how to check other items...I have no running programs either. the send beam icon is unchecked if that means anyhing. phone now at 50 perc and that's since my previous post
