i tried the exit bootloader given in this thread.. but that doesnt work (and yes i made sure activesync was disabled)

The 1.20 Olipro unlocked bootloader is not compatible with OEM 3.xx ROMs or custom ROMs based on OEM 3.xx.
1. Flash the official 2.17 package. You can do this with the Mogul on the bootloader screen; just ignore the statements about Activesync.
2. Install Olipro 2.40 unlocked hard-SPL bootloader.
3. Flash the official 3.35 package. You can do this with the Mogul on the bootloader screen; just ignore the statements about Activesync.

You only need to post your question in one thread. Since you say your phone is relocked, your kid must have installed the 1.xx relocked bootloader. IF YOU HAVE A 1.xx BOOTLOADER, and if you installed a custom ROM based on the Sprint official 3.35 release:
1. Flash the official Sprint 2.17 package; you can do this with the Mogul on the bootloader screen, just ignore the statements about Activesync. Do not allow the Sprint customizations to run after resetting.
2. Install the Olipro 2.40 unlocked hard-SPL bootloader.
3. Flash the official Sprint 3.35 ROM package; you can do this with the Mogul on the bootloader screen, just ignore the statements about Activesync. Again do not allow the Sprint customizations to run after resetting.
4. Flash the custom ROM
It is also possible that your phone was not relocked, but that you flashed a custom ROM that is incompatible with either your radio or your bootloader. If that is the case, the recovery will depend on what combination of bootloader/ROM/radio you currently have.
