Re: Windows 6.5 Titan

The Resume Plug in for WMP is an issue. After playing WMP several times the memory requirement for it grows to the point where I can have 52% used memory before a WMP session and only >90% Used when WMP starts. Deleting the Resume.asx and resume.pl in the root directory restores normal operation for a period of time. I've tried the Resume plug in previously with WMP and the Titan and have never been able to overcome the downside and have always removed the option. - Unless I'm the only one with these issues it isn't worth including it in the ROM. Extended ROM - This creates issues with SD card access for Mail, In this version of the ROM I cannot select SD card for attachment storage because the mail program only sees the Extended ROM and doesn't give an option for SD card storage. This requires a registry hack to point mail attachments to a \MAPI\Attachments directory to get Mail attachments on the SD card. Given that I don't find extended ROM that useful this is more of an annoyance than a benefit. If extended ROM will remain in place the Registry edits to setup \MAPI\Attachments should be included as a file in the ROM allowing the user to run a reg file to point attachments to the SD card. 8 button comm manager. I'm using the mfrazzz_commManager_8Button_cab. Requires a link to the commManager.lnk file in the Windows\appbuttons directory. I turn off the memory / ram meters - (remove them from Windows Startup) - No issue leaving them in since I can remove them easily... I'm seeing a EncFiltLog.menc file on my storage card with these 6.5 builds - don't recall seeing that with the TPlane builds (can't swear to that for certain though). I had an issue this weekend with .menc files between flashes that required me (after a bunch of research / digging) to do a low level format on my SDHC card to get it to work with a PC again - lost everything on the SD card - - not sure if there is something specific that needs to be done with 6.5 to stop the .menc file from appearing or if this is simply a microsoft file that I have to live with with 6.5 - may just need to be sure I backup SD between ROM upgrades... Keyboard - I like the BJK_HTC_EZInput_QVGA_FullKbd_0409-RC2.cab - works well for me. Had to apply a titan keyboard fix file to get all characters to work with this ROM (didn't need this with the TPlane ROM but it may simply be something with the order in which I installed software). showAce has an updated version of TitaniumWeather. Quick GPS - There is an HTC_QuickGPS_Trinity.Cab file that works great with the Titan - Installs QuickGPS in the correct location (\windows) and locates the xtra.bin file in the Windows directory correctly so that you don't have to manually copy the file from \temp to \windows. Honeycomb - I prefer the start menu w/o the Honeycomb background and with the 3x rather than 4x spacing (eyes getting older ) - I can edit the CPL to get this behavior. Browser - This is just FYI for anyone interested - Opera 9.5 is working very well with the Titan and this ROM. look for Opera_v9.5_build_15746_WWE_QVGA either here or XDA - not sure where I dl'd it from ). In general I prefer a clean rom with basic functionality and then I add / remove items as I need them rather than having them in ROM. (like JeffGMan above I was using the TPlane builds which are very clean but aren't ready beyond 22501 yet and 22501 didn't seem to be as good at managing memory as the 212xx builds you've released). These aren't intended to be criticisms, just my experience with the ROM - Thank you for all the hard work required to put these together - your work has extended the life of my Titan until I decide which device is next... |

Re: Windows 6.5 Titan
-i will remove the plugin for WMP as i dont like it myself
-the access to the extended rom will be taken out also. i dont find it that useful myself -i will try to put the commanager under programs for easy access to it. meaning , you will see your wrlmng.exe already under programs. -meters will stay because i like to have them. delete them from the starup folder if you dont like them. -me and tplane build it with ppck i dont know anything about the enc file. -stock keyboard. i like fingerkeyboard myself and i run it from card. -do you have a link to the updated titanium weather? -no gps programs (but gps available) too many to choose from, use cabs to install your own. -honeycomb with 4 lines because i dont like to scroll forever as i install a ton of programs it gets old to scroll 20 times to get to the bottom. -stock browser. i use opera mini and skyfire. last file got downloaded over 700 times and quoting from a private message i got "700 ppl with 700 different ideas, the chefs worst nightmare lol" hopefully you can use a very lite rom with 26mb free at startup. ps i dont mind trying new things even if they dont work (ext rom access) but that wont make it into the next build for sure sorry. |

More info on the Resume Plug in - glad to hear it's coming out of the ROM, the limitation hasn't been fixed and with large playlists it makes WMP unusable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=412847&page=9 Titanium Weather - 3.1.3 (I believe this is newer but cannot remember for sure since I updated the original with a cab). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487090 Great work... |
