NueRom Unified Kitchen 206 + BuildOS = PROPER FIX!
Ok, this is the result of many sleepless nights and sifting through countless backwards tutorials and conflicting information.
BACKGROUND: (note: you can skip straight to the instructions below if you already know all this) No2chem's latest kitchen broke with the new BuildOS, since BuildOS changed the way it processes the setup files (apparently you can now build new selection files from templates instead of using static selections.txt files). The nueRom kitchen uses the older straight-up selections.txt method, and apparently some of the syntax changed. I spoke to no2chem about it (see this thread), and he admitted that he hasn't been able to find the time to make it work for himself either at this point. I had posted earlier that he plans to fix it, which he still does, however other projects got in the way and he has other priorities at the moment pushing it off. So, meanwhile its up to us to figure this one out. Yes, Mikee4fun got it working in his thread by changing lots of things and exchanging OEMs, etc... and GGuruUSA got it working as well, although his instructions were very brief and didn't work for me or anyone I know who tried it. I swore that if I got it working, I'd post concise, easily-recreatable tutorial. Well, this is it! With the help of Dan-vogue-titan (who is the author of the files included below), I've finally got it working, and I'm fairly certain that this will work for those who haven't had success with it yet. As always, there are a few ways of making this happen, but I'm going to go with the one that requires the LEAST amount of manual changes done to the kitchen. That way, its easier to follow and hopefully will leave less room for user error. ***INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING NUEROM UNIFIED KITCHEN 206 WITH PPCKITCHEN BUILDOS .9.05*** Note: These instructions are for TITAN only. 1) Download the nueROM Unified Kitchen from his donator page at nuerom.com, and unpack the contents into /kitchens/nueROM inside your working buildOS folder (if you've never used a nueROM kitchen before, you'll need to create the folder nueROM inside of /kitchens). 2) From within nueROM/, find the file kitchen_config.txt inside the folder no2chem_Titan_Core, and open it to edit. Change the first line to read: KitchenConfigVersion=.90.04 (change the last digit from a 3) Next, find the line XipFilename=, and change it to read: XipFilename=Titan,nueROM3,xip_patch_20931.bin <ROM_OS_ID>=Titan,nueROM3 3) Instead of using selections.txt, we're going to take advantage of the new Groups system in the new BuildOS. Download Groups.zip attached below (thanks Dan-vogue-titan!). Inside BuildOS/Projects/Groups, you should find 3 directories: BuildBases, Common, and DeviceBases. Copy the corresponding files from Groups.zip into those directories. 4) That's it! Time to fire up BuildOS! Start a new project and click on the nuerom m 206 templates, then give it a filename and go. Now, you should get a whole lotta duplicate OEM errors. Just ignore those, they're not important and click OK. This could take a while. Once that is finished, you're free to make selections. When building, you'll find the same thing- its going to ask a seemingly endless amount of "do you want to replace this file?" because of the duplicate OEMs. Once again, its ok to just click yes to each until finished. IMPORTANT: For a bootable rom, you might need to have *ALL NueROM COMPONENTS SELECTED*. By default, most seem to be un-selected. That means, you have to manually go and click of every NueROM OEM in his kitchen categories. The two annoyances listed above can be fixed by manually removing no2's option.xml, since it will default to "all true", and remove whatever OEMs are duplicate from the ppckitchen OEMs. However, personally, I wanted to modify as little as possible to make sure this works. If that means I had to click YES a million and one times, well at least it works. Oh, and if anyone is wondering how to remove IE6 and revert back to standard pocket IE (ie6 breaks compatibility with some plugins, such as flash video bundle and logmein), remove the folder BROWSINGIE before loading up the kitchen. You may need to also replace the folder BROWSING with one from an earlier build w/pIE, however I've been told that isn't necessary. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions. Special thanks to GGuruUSA for patience, Mikee4fun for proving this CAN work, dan-vogue-titan for sharing his solution, and no2chem for not blowing me off everytime I ask him questions.

In my experience, I got this error after the kitchen reached some fatal error and had to close- I think you'll find if you open a saved project it will do the same thing now, regardless of nueROM. I'm not sure exactly how to fix it, but if you can't get it working, try a new installation of buildOS. |

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen 206 + BuildOS = PROPER FIX!
You removed buildOS completely, and reinstalled it from buildOS.msi?
Gosh. Are you sure you remembered to change the kitchen_config line to .04? Does ANY kitchen work? |

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen 206 + BuildOS = PROPER FIX!
It comes from having an old style XipFilename= line in your selections.txt.

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen 206 + BuildOS = PROPER FIX!
typo in the groups rar you posted i think
MModuleDir=Kitchens\Carriers_Titan.rar: is what shows. should be ModuleDir=Kitchens\Carriers_Titan.rar: That is in the DeviceBases subfolder. also, the XIPFilename looks awkward in the device base - nuerom m 206.txt it shows: XipFilename=Titan,WM6.1_20931,xip_patch_20931.bin shouldnt it be: XipFilename=Titan,No2Chem_nueROM3,xip_patch_20931. bin not sure if it makes a difference, but just things i noticed. |

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen 206 + BuildOS = PROPER FIX!
I'm getting the same error message as above, even after editing the "MModule" typo (but not making the other changes).
If the problem is in the syntax for the XIPfilename, can someone post the correct one so it can be modified? Thanks. |
