Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I have a unmodified xv6800 on Verizon. I'd like to install radio 3.42.50 as a first step towards getting my GPS working. I don't have a way to read or write to a SD card with my computer so I need to ask a couple of questions.
The paragraph below is just copied from the instructions given in this thread. I copied it here for reference. "So basically you are doing it only to get the radio. That is not your only option to obtain and install a GPS enabled Radio. The following methods are how I did mine. You can download the latest Radio (3.42.30) ( Here is 3.42.40) and place the file (radio) on an SD card, rename that file to TITAIMG.nbh. Place the SD card into the device and put the phone into bootloader mode (Power, camera, reset) and follow the prompts on the screen to update the radio. You can also look for the 3.35 radio on the FTP that is packaged in an installer. All you have to do is plug your phone to your PC and double click the icon, then follow the prompts." Questions: Would it work if I used Activesync to put the radio on the SD card and rename it to TITAIMG.nbh? If not where can I find the latest radio "packaged in an installer"? I can't seem to find such a thing (although I've seen it mentioned in another thread). Otherwise is there another way to do this? Thanks everyone in advance. |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
You should be able to put the radio in an ruu and install it I believe.

-or- you can just put the radio in an RUU and make sure you backup your data |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Hi GaMedic, Puff
I put the radio in an ruu and the ruu started but then said something to the effect that it couldn't program the rom. I tried my idea of putting the radio on the sd card and that didn't work, probably because you cant formate the sd to fat 32 with activesync. It wold probably be worth it if somebody wanted to retry those things though cause I may have had other problems when I tried it. |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
oh yeah the card needs to be FAT32, what error on the PC?
did u try settings - connections - usb to pc - disable advanced network functionality? |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I am trying to unlock my rom. I go to the step by step process and get hung up when my phone is in the bootloader screen. I disconnect the usb and reconnect but I cannot reconnect active sync to finish the unlock procedure.

What is the process for loading and editing a previously released .nbh in BuildOS? Say I want to mess around with 21812. Do I need anything besides the TITAIMG.nbh file?

if you have an nbh you will need to decompile it depending on the way it was built it may have protection and may not decompile/recompile correctly it would be better to find the original basekit, or even the original kitchen |

I think this should be a sticky!!!

best USB cable option is to start with olipro 1.2 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332381 then boot to the windows touch screen message and then install the new Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50 here http://www.geek-pages.com/rom/Titan%...%203.42.50.rar with active sync and RUU through the windows touch screen setup window, your computer/activesync will see your phone in the touch screen setup window. Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50 is awsome, I get 2 bars in my house when I couldn't even get a signal with sprints crappy radio. You use RUU to install the titan radio which you get here ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/RUU/RUU.rar you extract the .nbh titan radio file out of the zipped folder and put it in the RUU folder where ever you extracted it to. Then you run the romupdateutility.exe and install the radio to the phone, you have to have activesync connected to run RUU. Reboot the phone and when it get's to the windows message telling you to touch the screen run active sync again to install olipro 2.4 and boot back to the windows touch screen once again(if you can't boot out of olipro2.4 use this cmd line ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/Im...tan_exitbl.rar and make sure Wcesmgr.exe Wcescomm.exe Rapimgr.exe are all disabled in task manager before you do) Then run active sync when the phone is at the windows touch screen message again and cook up a rom, I personally am now a big fan of wm6.5 21501 which has been great so far, might upgrade to 21815. To cook get build OS http://ppckitchen.org/Downloads/BuildOS.msi and get cooking! pretty self explanitory, make sure you update and also select titan in update selection area. A side note, You have to use olipro 1.2 to install the new titan radio if you are using a usb cable, otherwise if you have a sd card you can just install olipro 2.4 ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/Im...rd-SPL-MFG.exe and then install the titan radio with a >2gb sd card with titan on it in the bootloader without installing olipro 1.2, your choice. Not worth buying a sd card for!! |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
If you looked 5 posts up and read my post you would have links to everything you need including RUU and simple directions. You need a DL manager like bitcomet to download the links I believe, thats what I use. Not sure if MS will download a ftp link.
I feel like everyone is having the same problem and here is everything you need to know, cook a rom it's worth it! get 6.5 best USB cable option is to start with olipro 1.2 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332381 then boot to the windows touch screen message and then install the new Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50 here http://www.geek-pages.com/rom/Titan%...%203.42.50.rar with active sync and RUU through the windows touch screen setup window, your computer/activesync will see your phone in the touch screen setup window. Thanks bertrenolds I will look through your post to see. ---looking for, using search here and at xda to try to dowload olipro. |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I know, I think the titan upgrades forum needs more stickies at the top for instance this post started by gamedic should be at the top of the forum always! And using the search button doesen't always yield good results, sometimes someone has to show you the way. I was a noob 3 days ago, but I found everything searching and now I have posted the links to everything people need to mod their mogul/titan phone so they don't need to search aimlessly anymore. Use the radio I posted a link too, Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50.

Well I got it, guess I was just making it too complicated. Just had to extract the ruu.rar file ( ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/RUU/RUU.rar ) to a folder, copy the downloaded nbh file to that folder and run the update utility. |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Now the fun begins, you should cook up a rom, it's super easy! Use 6.5, makes 6.1 look midevil! If you use BuildOS otherwise knows as PPC Kitchen make sure you do every update and also select titan when updating.

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I don't know what is going on awith the ppckitchen. It has been quite some time since they updated. I hope you guys update soon. I have been using a few other ROMs from others with a bit more stability over the current kitchen.

When you chose the 6.1 base (upper window), (since there is not yet a base selection for 6.5), Just make sure you select the WM6.5_96DPI_QVGA_21501_0409 (lower window), and you will have yourself a nice recipie to work with. It won't show as 6.5 untill after flashing. ENJOY! |

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I am truel sorry if this was already addressed somewhere else in the 47 pages of this thread, i have read about 20 of them. Also hate to use my first post to ask a questions, however i must as i use my 6800 as my wireless internet modem and until i get it fixed i am in the back yard stealing the neighbors wifi, lol.
My PC: Windows Vista Phone: VX-6800 Carrier: VZW I used the OliPro 2.40 and everything worked perfect until i got to the end to exit bootloader. Phone is stuck on the rainbow, shows OliPro 2.40, however every time i try any of the exit bootloader programs it advises unable to connect, make sure I have disabled USB in WMDC, which I have, and make sure USB cable is connected correctly, which I also have. The only other problem I see if while WMDC has usb disabled the phone is still be detected by VISTA and showing up in device manager under mobile devies at HTC USB Device or whatever. Any help will be appreciated. I tried the one thread that stated to end the two wcesXXXX processes and rigp or whatever but still no luck. thanks BSF |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
My only expirence is with XP.
I have been searching threads for Vista, and exit bootloader. If you could find an old "XP" (reliable) machine, then I can help. |

But if all you have done is unlocked and are now stuck in bootloader 2.40olipro. Then just flash a custom rom |

with the phone in bootloader hook up the usb.
run the rom update utility containing the nbh file. If vista is showing mobile device in device manager then it sees it. |

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Let me know what other info you need and I will see if i can figure it out. I am not a dummy to pcs and tech stuff but this entire phone thing is new to me... |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
ok, now i have not loaded any type of radio either, just the rom, may this be my first problem? do i need to load radio prior to rom? or need to still load a radio before it will move out of bootload?
|
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
f*ck vista, lol, just tried it with my laptop in the truck on XP Pro and it worked better, this time after loading the Mattsm mbh rom the phone atleast restarted and got out of the bootloader, however it booted up to the Codefest 2009 screen and doesn't move any futher along...

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
once you've gotten un-stuck from bootloader, when you boot up it flashes red letters and numbers on the bottom...
if it says 1.XX then you need to upgrade your radio ;-) once it says 3.XX then you should be good :D |

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
ok, i was thinking everytime i uploaded a rom it was like a fresh install situation and wiped the past rom off, but thats not the case, i can install the first rom i did, then the matt rom, and then the radio rom and they all work together?
