Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
help! i upgraded the radio rom via sd and now it won't get past verizon splash screen when booting. still on stock wm6 rom
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
did you put it in bootloader and then flash your custom rom?
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
no. i was following the tutorial and it first said to update the radio rom and i did the sd way exactly how it says. i haven't cooked a rom yet, so im only as far as the radio rom part and now when i boot it gets stuck at vzw splash
bootloader
Once the file is renamed place the SD card into the device and put the phone into bootloader mode (Power, camera, reset all pressed at the same time for about 2 seconds) and follow the prompts on the screen to update the spl. After the screen says updated or update complete, press the reset button. While the phone is resetting place the phone back in bootloader mode.
If you get stuck in the bootloader screen at any time (when you reset it goes to bootloader screen and will not boot to splash screen) just go to this post and run the exit-bl. in that thread. |
Re: bootloader
yes, i got past the update and update complete thing. when i hit reset i put the phone back in bootloader and it went back to the update screen. so whenever i reset without going into bootloader it gets stuck
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
were does it get stuck at?
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
the verizon splash shows up and has all the versions etc. at the bottom, then they go away and the verizon splash just sits there
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
thanks a lot. the reason i was worried is because i've tried buildos on 2 PC's, and i always get the "rom folder doesn't exist" error. i am running .net framework 2.0+ on both pc's.
EDIT: so if i can't cook a rom i was hoping my phone wasn't bricked |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
tried reinstalling...same error
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
well then idk. i havent had this error. did you check on the ppckitchen site
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
yeah. i was choosing the no2chem .rar on startup of buildos, instead of choosing the selections.txt ](*,)
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Hey drewden did you run the updater and select ppcgeeks_OEM.rar in the updates? You have to choose a selections text when it starts up. I am here now so post any questions and I will try to walk you through it.
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
yeah i was accidentally choosing the "titan_no2chem" .rar file instead of the selections text. so now i got it working. sry im a ppckitchen noob
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Thats what this is for - the noob. Did you get a ROM flashed and did it boot up on your phone fine? Where is that titan_no2chem.rar file located? I have never seen it.
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
yeah i got it flashed and booted and everything. sorry i was being lazy when i said titan_no2chem.rar or whatever i meant the actual .rar file that the ROM is located in. i am having one problem though...google maps doesn't seem to find any satellites and gps was the whole reason i went through all this trouble
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Did you happen to put HTC GPS tool in your ROM? If so you can find it under Start>Settings>Connections. If you have it hit open port. Wait about 10-20 seconds and hit start test to see if it finds any satalites. Also if you put Windows live on it, give it a try. On Google Maps are you clicking menu, Use GPS?
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
yep i have gps tool and when i use it it finds satellites but doesn't fix any. and yes i checked the "use GPS" on google maps
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I had a little trouble the first time to get a Lock. Use the GPS tool again after you reset your phone. Sometimes it takes a while on the first one. I have not tested my GPS in a while I think I will go do that now.
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Ok I had nt used GPS since I flashed a ROM. I went outside and ran google which did not lock. I used HTC GPS toll and got no lock after a minute. I chose Function in bottom left corner and chose Quick GPS on. It locked after abot 45 secs- 1minute. Also there is a progam GPS toggle. It is a today screen app that works pretty good t turn GPS Off/ON from the today screen. If you cook it in then go to settings>today>items and select it to show up on today screen.

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
BAF GPS toggle is he name in the kitchen.
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
all right i downloaded the plugin and it turned gps on. still nothing. i used gps viewer and it scanned all the coms (com1, com2) and they all either said "open failed" or "none"
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Com 4 is the correct COM.
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!

Lots of times toggling the location off and back on will kick GPS in the butt too. Settings/Personal/Phone- Services tab
