Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Hey guys. Couple months back I used this tutorial to flash my Sprint 6800 to Cricket with great success and ease. Thought I had done the same with my fiance's but must have had an ADHD moment and missed a step. Long and short is that I need to revert hers to original earliest SPL and Rom and then start over. I can't get the Cricket data services to work (just the internet). What do I need for this? Alternately, a link to a thread that describes how to revert it would work great. Thanks in advance.

since your stuck in bootloader, what version does it show? If your bootloader is Olipro 2.40 then you just need to flash a compatible Radio and Rom... the easiest way would be to flash the latest Sprint 6.1 GPS enabled shipped ROM Update (not just the ROM only) If your carrier is not Sprint, make sure to reset BEFORE customizations run (you get 3 seconds;-)) |

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Puff: Thanks for the expedient response. I'm -so- glad I didn't go ahead and try to revert the radio and rom! Thanks for the heads up. I've compared the two moguls (both identical and running Gamedic's Rom) and the only difference I can find is that my fiance's says "PRI Version: 1.24_003" in Start>settings>system tab>device information>Version tab. Mine states "2.04_003". Our EPST settings are identical as well. Is PRI a designator for radio version? Could I just upgrade her radio? Any thoughts? Oh, worth mentioning, I have already repeated Gamedic's Step by Step on her mogul to no avail. So whatever is wrong can't be rectified by simply re-trying the process. I apologize in advance for mor ignorance in these matters

Truth be told, I've successfully downgraded the radio before. Its never been my device, always someone elses... Anyway, from what i've read and what i remember, PRI caused issues with GPS... but i could very well be wrong... ... you have checked ##PST and compared the M.IP profiles? ... also you confirmed radio, bootloader, and rom are all identical? |

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
First of all, many thanks to GAmedic for what looks to be a simple and quality tutorial for us n00bs. I'm about to undertake this task myself, as I just paid 35 bucks to the a place in town that could not get my internet, MMS, or GPS functional and seemed to know about as much as I did after I took the device home and did some research.
I've read through some of the tutorial already and I have a question. I have a VZW Mogul 6800. It is flashed and working with Cricket (but only calling and SMS are currently functional). A quote from the tutorial concerns me: "Attention Verizon users: When you finish flashing you ROM you will need to call Verizon for a new Akey." I'm not sure the person who originally flashed it flashed a new radio. If not, I'm curious to know how to go about getting a new Akey, as I am NOT a Verizon customer and never was. Can I call Cricket to get one if I need one? If not can, I still call Verizon and get a new one if necessary? Is there a way to find out if he flashed a new radio and I do not need to get a new Akey? Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Once I am done flashing my phone and getting it to work, I will donate some money to the cause. Living with crippled devices is for suckers! Thanks again! M. |

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
hey mort - welcome to PPCGeeks !!! :D
and man if you got cricket, i wont be able to help you much... but i'll do what i can as far as the A-Key for Verizon, if you aint got Verizon - you wont need it ;-) voice and sms operate on the same 1X channel, to fix data you prolly need to modify the PST settings... (##PST# or ##778#) this will require your MSL, if its not 000000 then get BAFMSL grabber although I dont know the correct settings offhand for cricket... anyway, again welcome to PPCGeeks !!! hope this helps.... |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Quick question.
I have 2.47 Nochem2 as my bootloader.. It doesnt let me run the TITAIMG.nbh.. Should I downgrade? Can I just format my memory stick with one of the other ones and try to run it on the bootloader? Or do I have to do something else? |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Make sure your card is formatted right, also you might try a different card if you can...

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Help! The slider portion on my phone broke and I now have a new one from Verizon. However, it already has WM 6.1 on it. I didn't think I would need to unlock it before I put a custom ROM on it through the kitchen but can't seem to get it to take. So, I tried the gamedic's suggestions on unlocking it but it keeps erroring out. Can anybody recommend what to do next? When I reboot, I see these revs, not all the way sure what they mean but I'm assuming one is the radio and one is a bootloader. Anyway, here is what I have.
m 09 b 03 p dcaaxom.4350H R 3.37.78 d 3.57 Then in the bootloader it says TITA100 SPL-2.07.0000 CPLD-9 I'm bummed because I had this the way I wanted finally and then the phone broke. Now, not sure how to proceed. Thanks!! |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
What exactly are you trying to do. Install a rom? What errors are you getting exactly? Did you buy a verizon fun but you have sprint?

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Very new to all of this, but I ran thru all of the steps that are outlined and now my fone just sits on the "ppcgeeks and ppckitchen.org" screen. I can not do anything, including power it off w/o taking the battery out.. Please help me!:(

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
is that the custom pic you used to power up?
i'm guessing you need to install a rom that is right for your radio. you're not giving us much to work with. maybe you cooked something too mem intensive and it is hanging |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
still nothing.. I left it pluged up to charge all night. Tried the abv steps again and I continue to get the same thing. I reset using the camera, power, and reset button. I get the rainbow screen and it shuts off. I can turn it back on now with the power button but then it goes back to the Chef PPC screen for a minute or so and back off, or black screen. I tried uninstalling an re-installing my activesync. Nothing!

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Did you update your radio? You need at least 3.xx for gps roms. Should be in red on bottom right on startup next to R:
|
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
try flashing to a known working ROM or stock ROM
if your still having issues, post what numbers you have in bootloader (tri-color screen) also post the radio version found as posted by drewcam888 |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
First off I have to thank you for the Tutorial. I had no problems updating my Radio and ROM, getting the GPS to work, and getting WM 6.1 running. It was a little bit scary at first but I'm glad I did it.
The only difference was that I used the Rom included with PPCKitchen and didn't fully understand what I was doing so I loaded way too much stuff onto my phone and it does not have much memory left after loading all the programs. I would like to flash it again. Is there anything different about flashing it from a non-stock Rom to a new non-Stock Rom? Or do I just go through the same process (Without upgrading the Radio again, of course)? |

Once you've unlocked your always unlocked (unless you relock for warranty or return) Simply cook up your ROM and then flash it using your preferred method (RUU vs SD Card) ;-) |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Unlocking and reflashing the radio is not necessary anymore.

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I finally pulled off my update and installed a GPSToggle on my Today screen and seen it lock on to 5 sats! :D
Now... I am sure there are many great GPS Navigators out there. I am looking for a very BASIC one as this is really just a TOY function for me... Is GoogleMaps a good route? |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Seriously this isnt the correct section to ask this question. And maybe try and search. Gps applications have been discussed many times here.

OK.. I'm thinking about flashing my Touch Pro.... mostly to get rid of crapware. My question is.... has anyone tried flashing a Touch Pro or any other device while running Win XP Pro in Parallels on a Mac? ActiveSync seems to work fine in this setup.

Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
I cannot get the SD Flashing method to work. Here is what I have tried:
The nueSPL exe from the first page extracts the TITAIMG.nbh to my SD card. This program also runs through a checklist to make sure my sd card is in the right format and everything checks out. I tell it to continue, and it goes to bootloader and stays there. I have tried manually flashing other things using the sd method, and it never does anything when I put it into bootloader mode. I have 2 microsd chips. One Kingston 1gb. One PNY 1 gb. I have formatted them to fat32 and tried every cluster size 4kb and below. I place the TITAIMG.nbh in the root of those microsd chips. Nothing ever happens when I put the phone into bootloader. It just sits there. After 10 minutes I just reset and it boots normally. I have done 5 hard resets and used 4 different ROMS. I am now on WM6.5 Build 21501 (Thanks Tplane37) Two Questions: 1: Is there a way to get my sd flashing working? 2: If I go the activesync route, can I use the same RUU I used to flash my rom to 6.5 to also flash to nueSPL2.47. If not, what RUU do I use? Thanks so much. |
Re: Step by Step tutorial for unlocking your device and cooking your own ROM!!!
Thanks for the advice. I had thought about going that direction and ordered two new SD cards yesterday for this purpose. I'll post my results.
