Re: Titan 20270 GPS kitchen

I tried searching this thread for beejive or jivetalk but came up empty. Does this ROM support it. I know there were 2 files I found NETCFV2 and sqlce that I need to install prior to luanching Beejive but I'm unable to installe NETCF.

Re: Titan 20270 GPS kitchen

Well I just recently added 2 Instant Messenger apps to the PPCKitchen OEM thread: Slick Messenger and Palringo
I haven't heard of anyone trying Beejive/Jivetalk yet, but if its a popular enough messenger I can try to OEM it and see how it runs. As far as the .NET and SQLCE, both those are available in BuildOS.

Edit: Beejive OEM added to PPCKitchen OEM thread, untested at this time however. Also see this thread on the woes of Beejive/Jivetalk , it seems to be an issue with the version of SQLCE it uses.

On my previous builds of another base, there was an app (nueUSB?) that would let you select on connection if you wanted the USB port to emulate the USB drive. Where is that on the current kitchen? I thought it might have ben NueStorage CPL but that's definitely not it. There's an app called USB Mass Storage Driver, but there's no on-line info for that.
I am testing the WMP skin right now, and the USB Mass Storage Driver is the same thing. We will try to get the description updated ASAP.

Sounds good. It was a bit frustrating with the skin, but not a big deal. Is there any reason the USB Mass Storage driver isn't in the Nue section?

Finally, does anyone know if there is a utility to switch which app is invoked (on the fly?) for html files? Sometimes pie is enough, sometimes Opera, and now that I'm on the Skyfire beta, that's a good option too. But since I loaded Opera via the Kitchen, it had taken over the association. I can use the association tool to swap it, but it's a PITA to do that each time. I'd love a little pop up that asks which to invoke. Maybe I'll post the question in the software forum...

I too would like a popup if possible... I hate pie, it's just too lame... I can't believe MS wouldn't offer a friendlier mobile browser by now... I personally love the Opera Mini...

The thing is, PIE is often the best since it's fast and works well with some of the mobile formatted sites. I like that Opera does a good job on non mobile friendly sites, but it's a memory hog. If I launch a link from Messaging for example (e.g., link in an email), the first thing that happens as Opera loads is that Messaging gets unloaded PIE loads small and I can switch back and forth. That's why it would be nice for something to select "on-the-fly".

Re: Titan 20270 GPS kitchen

Hi ...

I just loaded 20270 on my XV6800. I am seeing 2 immediate problems:
  • The key press areas on the iPhone keypad seem all out-of-whack, and some of the buttons seem to overlap. The dialer is virtually unusable for me.
  • Opera 9.5 can't seem to accept input from the sliding keyboard. It also has trouble with the default screen keyboard. Opera is also virtually unusable for me.
Are there known solutions for these problems? (Sorry if the answers have already been posted. My searches didn't find anything)

I don't think Opera is that much of a resource hog... I can run Opera, take a call and send a text message just fine. It's only bad IF I run TomTom or Google Maps, and in that case I'm usually not browsing the net, I'm looking for directions... I rarely look at mobile sites, because I prefer to take advantage of the whole site. Or I would just rather go to a site I already know, rather than try to learn what link they put the page on, I frequent...

There are a lot of dialer issues in 20270. Carlos has a couple of nice dialers that work good. They are cabs, just grab it and install right over the top of the iphone. I have never used opera so can't answer that one.

Re: Titan 20270 GPS kitchen

Will someone please tell me why this new version on smart dial is installed by default since 20260. This wasn't like this in 19588. I commented on this many times with no answer.
