Difference between the 7/21 3.56 ROM and "earlier" 3.56 ROM

The ROM/files that you end up with on your phone after updating may well be identical, but there "is" a difference in these file sizes. ...and I'm not talking out my a$$.

You are correct, you aren't talking out your a$$ because you are aksing if it is different so you are only inquiring. If anyone starts to say there is a difference then they are the ones that are trippin.

I can confirm the file sizes are different. How can they be identical considering this?

If you donwloaded the rom from HTC's website prior to the 21st, it will be exactly the same as the leaked rom. The rom that they put up on the 21st is indeed a different filesize. It was already mentioned in a different thread that they only made a very small change between the two. Nothing that should affect functionality was changed. I belive they just changed a link, or some wording in a file somewhere.

You are guy are looking at the size of the single file that you download! If you extract it to a folder, EVERY SINGLE FILE IS EXACTLY THE SAME INSIDE!!!!

Simply put, they just appear to have been compressed differently.

I just downloaded both the file from HTC, and the leaked rom from DCD (from this thread). The following files are different. This is by extracting the .exe and comparing the MD5 checksums of each file. I've included the checksums as well.

As you can see, there is clearly a difference.

I'll concede that maybe the checksums are different for some reason but both sets of files have the exact same file size and the last date and time modified is exactly the same, on all of them.
