I've tried to use it on a daily basis, but the screen rotation is kind of a big deal for me. I looked into downloading and building the android source mentioned above and at XDA, but I think it's a bit too far over my head.

Re: Linux/Android working on Titan

I just thought I'd say that I tried out Android 1.5 for the Kaiser to see if maybe that would help, but it didn't. Not only was it painfully slow, but the screen rotation wasn't set up either.

Is there any way to put Android Market on the Titan build? It seems like that's the big thing missing right now, and it already has the screen rotation properly set up.

EDIT: I suppose the other option would be to see if there's a way to get the 1.5 cupcake to run faster. It has an on-screen keyboard, so the screen rotation wouldn't be *as* big of a deal.

Off topic - not sure I'd consider a true upgrade. I love my keyboard and SD card. :-)

But in all seriousness, enjoy your new phone and the extra goodness it has in RAM and screen capabilities (and thin-ness), and we'll miss having your assistance with this!

I played around with it for a bit today. I read through all the posts and seems to me this has come a long way in a very short amount of time. This is exciting for us Linux fans

Come to the dark side,......................we have Penguins :headbang:

Just curious as to where you guys are getting your android from? I have downloaded from a few places. 1 didn't have apps and the other I couldn't get haret to run.

You can get them from here: http://www.androidonhtc.com/

We've been using the Vogue build, so you might wanna start off with that. Also, 1.1 runs significantly faster than 1.5 and is less prone to locking up. I'm sure you'll want to try both, but it's good to know that ahead of time.

Any chance you can post a link for the Vogue Builds? When I click on the latest builds link for Vogue it says that Topic is not set up yet.

Oh...I'm sorry about that. I linked to where I've been getting the Kaiser builds from (they also work). I checked them to see if any of them had the screen rotation fixed, but I haven't found one yet.

Anyways, here are the correct links:
1.5 is here: http://code.google.com/p/vogue-android/downloads/list

1.1 is here: http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/

Fair warning - the screen rotates the wrong way on these when the keyboard is slid out. If 1.5 wasn't so laggy it wouldn't be a big deal (it has a soft keyboard).

To answer one of your earlier questions, I think the reason that the titan build doesn't have Android Market is because it's 1.0, but I'm not 100% sure about that.
