MrPenguin, how fatal is the screen turning off and not comng back on?

Can you let me know if the LEDs still blink forever?

Battery life any better?

You guys have me excited with this vogue build, but I use 1.0 for hours at a time so I am hesitant to switch over.

I'll scope out the source trees and figure out how to build / compile. The keyboard issue sounds dead easy to fix, and I know a fair bit of C.

Like I said, the screen will turn off and not come back on when pressing the end button - I actually experienced this with the Titan build, and it seemed to get better over time. The LEDs still blink and everything, but I haven't tried to call the phone when it happened so I don't know what would happen. I'll try that the next time and see what goes on. I should also mention that on occasion it will randomly start working again - very strange.

The battery life isn't any better, but it certainly isn't worse either. I think the only big thing causing it to drain so much faster is the key lights staying on when the screen is off.

As for the keyboard issue, I *really* hope you can fix that. This is a fairly nice build, but as an extremely heavy texter it's kind of annoying to text while the screen is upside-down.

As for the keyboard issue ..
The arch/arm/mach-msm/ gitweb kernel tree may be a good place to begin.

:drunken:

The issue is just as likely in the android source. If anyone happens to know, do link us up with an htc build tree.

This happens to me from time to time.

When it happens next try pressing the voice command [home] key instead of the menu key and let me know if it turns on.

Well I gave it a try, but it didn't change anything.

That lock-up doesn't happen on my phone with Android 1.0. I wonder if it's related to the keyboard/landscape issue. The only time my phone has trouble [pressing home wakes up the screen] is when I let the screen turn off in landscape.

I haven't really noticed a commonality in it yet. I usually don't have the keyboard out (unless I'm texting, IMing, or doing something that requires me to type). When I tried the voice command button I had just put the screen to sleep by pressing the end button. After that, it wouldn't come back on.

Magister2k7 pointed out the one small change needed to make the screen flip correctly in this post on XDA - Developers Forum:

Basically it is just in one line in the android source (not the kernel), but the change requires you to rebuild the whole thing and replace the file in an existing system.img

which shouldn't take much time hopefully. I'm still out my ppc6800. No touchscreen, so no actual use for it ATM. I was hoping i could work some more with the Android dev, but i don't have the resources ATM. Is anyone using this on a daily basis? I couldn't because of my hardware keys.
