Any word on the rumored WM 6.1 update from Alltel for the PPC6800?

I'm new to all this but I would like to get GPS enabled on my US Cellular HTC 6800 but all I see is updating the Alltel 6800. Am I able to use the Alltel procedures on my USCell phone without messing it up?
