Re: Arcsoft MMS cab - 5.0.31.7

spetrillo, can you post your registry settings?

I can't seem to get MMS to work properly with the threaded SMS, since they merge the SMS and MMS together. e.g. "Menu" and "New" just gets me a new SMS, with no way to attach a picture.

Re: Arcsoft MMS cab - 5.0.31.7

That version ( .19) has that bug in it, it details the bugs in the version logs. I am using .25 at the moment and it has fixed that problem. Now many people show this version as 5.0.27.25, but when installed, it shows as 5.0.31.25, and I am believing the later.

So, I will post a link to the cab I have installed and it runs great, no more telephone number, just contact names..... love it.... I ran acros it in this thread....

PS - On a side note, I have extensively tested several versions of Arcsoft 3, 4, and 5, and have found that ALL versions 5.x.x.x have a mem leak, it is small, but the more MMS you use, the more mem you lose.... The transport.exe seems to allocate more memory each time you get a new MMS, if you close it using a task manager, it will free some RAM, but not all..... it is worth it, for the bug fixes it offers in the latest version.....

Thank you so much. Like I said, it really wasn't that big of an issue for me, but it was just a little annoying.

Latest OEM

Morning all,

Here is the latest OEM I have been working with. Its a hybrid of DCD's cab, plus some addtl reg entries that I incorporated.

A couple of things about this OEM:

1) Its only for VZW. If other carrier users would like to adopt this for their carriers please feed your carrier specific info back to me and I will make an OEM for each carrier.
2) This has gone through limited testing and I am not responsible if you have issues. I will help as much as I can but its use at your own risk. If you do find flaws, and are able to fix them, please let me know so I can update the master OEM.

May the force be with you all!

Steve

I am working through the issues but I think I have it all working. Will be nice to have someone else test also.

You will need to add the following reg statement to your OEM since I have it added via my personal OEM:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
"X-VZW-MDN"="xxxxxxxxxx"

Short answer, Yes, I had to go into the registry and re-input the WSPheader info. Basically I just exported that key from the working MMS(5.0.31.19), and then cabbed it up, so when I flash, I have UC install the MMS cab(5.0.31.25), then the WSPHeader cab, and all works great.... If I was good, I would write some kind of provxml to autoread the phone number and put it in the X-VzW-MDN key, but alas, I just don't have the time to learn how to do that.....

And YES, you can install this over ver 3.x.

Thanks az.. installed no problem.. i do like the way it integrates the pic messages directly into your text inbox. no seperate pics/video folder.
i still dont like how i can't take a full size pic and send it full size (yes, the 'Orginal' tickbox is checked under options for 'sending picture size').
so i take a 175k pic, and send it - and it shows up in my SENT folder as 175k, but when it hits my inbox, it trims down to 27, or 34K..

why does MMS have to be such a mysterious PAIN.. seems so danged simple.

also PS - as a test, i then uninstalled your cab, and it automatically brought back my other settings with perfection.. so this update was a nice, un-intrusive cab.. thank you for that !
the only thing i had to do after install, was delete that SampleMMS server setting, and add the Verizon one, and make it default...
did you also notice that it dials out to send, or receive, then as soon as it's done, it drops the data connection ? so it would initiate a data connection to send.. then drop it.. then a split second later, it would initate a new data connection to receive (yes, i sent the message to myself).. then it would drop that, as soon as it downloaded..... weird..
