Re: Qwest will never release a ROM upgrade for Mogul PPC6800
I spoke to two Qwest people, one on the online chat and another at a Qwest kiosk. The summary of all of it is:
Qwest is moving all of their wireless signals to Verizon's towers. The Qwest phones we now own won't work with Verizon, so we'll be offered a Verizon compatible replacement at no charge, because it wasn't our fault they signed a new contract, and they can't leave us without service. . We don't have to give up our current phone plans. So, we get new phones with verizon compatible software, and they have to be equivalent. I'm kinda glad, seeing as how I own a Mogul, the top of the line, and I'm not downgrading. I want Verizon's XV6800 and I'm not settling for anything less. Of course, this could all change, but this information I got straight from two different people who work for Qwest, so so far, it sounds like a phone swap, nothing more. I could be wrong, but doesn't sound so bad. |

Re: Qwest will never release a ROM upgrade for Mogul PPC6800
The Voyager that Verizon offers would be a PISS POOR replacement for my Mogul. It won't edit Office documents, it won't store, and it won't slide, and I hate it. Grrr.
I know what's inside the 6800. It may not look like much on the outside, but I know what its innards do. MMMMM.....innards. (shakes head) Sorry, where was I? Oh, yeah. I am not downgrading. Nothing can replace the Mogul, not even the vaunted IPhone. No keyboard is a deal breaker. So, I've been watching the Qwest boards like a hawk. Near as I can tell the Verizon switch starts for sure on July 19, because Qwest is selling off all its old inventory with deals that will only last one year now. Of course, Verizon could solve all this by just having us bring in our Moguls to be unlocked and adding their software update. (VERY LARGE HINT). |

Re: Qwest will never release a ROM upgrade for Mogul PPC6800
This is all great information,
I am a little suspect about Qwest giving us a free phone that is equal to or better then the Mogul as I have never been very happy with their customer service. I have a funny feeling that they will want to replace this phone with something quite a bit less powerful (a downgrade) and if we really want something nicer then we will have to fork over a bunch more cash. This is just my feeling given how I have been treated by Qwest thus far. It is nice to know though that they are at least not planning to leave us totally hanging. |

Re: Qwest will never release a ROM upgrade for Mogul PPC6800
I can help you get your qwest mogul set up on vzw if need be when the times comes so you don't have to spend $400 to buy a new xv6800.

Re: Qwest will never release a ROM upgrade for Mogul PPC6800
Wow,
I too just downloaded it from here: http://216.139.227.226/qwest/RUU_TIT..._PPST_Ship.exe Instructions are found here: http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=73&act=sd# I am really glad that they decided to release it with all that is going on with Sprint & Verizon. Although Qwest has been slow to release this and not very accomidating over the phone, maybe they do plan to try and keep us Mogul users happy. I will try this upgrade tonight and post back with my results. |
